How is the server's general atmosphere, community, and lower level grouping doing? Good? Bad? Wondering if it is worth putting any time into these days, or if its just going to be soloing and elitests.

EQ never had room for multiple guilds contesting, every server always had one guild dominate.

I agree Blue needs velius but only because it will allow guilds like TMO to move on and other people to move into VP for the fun. However we all know that TMO will run velius and a year from now the same issue.

THAT BEING SAID, how many of us (not in TMO) really want to sit around for hours on end just waiting for a raid mob? Im ok playing second (or fifth) fiddle and having gear that is (not quite but almost) as good as what they have.

Remember pre aa and POP gear - SKILL trumps gear. Once POP came out GEAR was king.

One thing you're guaranteed to find on these forums, which differs substantially from ingame (which you should try again), are attitudes that devolve almost every conversation into "red is awesome, yet still needs your help," and "when is velious coming? Don't pressure the devs, they have real lives, blah blah blah."

But I have only been playing about 2 weeks or so (level 20 necro) and have found P99 to be absolutley fantastic in every way.

Supremely stable server, fantastic community, great GMs and a nice little xp bonus kicker :).

Level up in the main thoroughfare of players and you will experience generosity beyond what you ever saw on Live

Server is great till around level 40 when you start hitting places like City of Mist where areas are heavily contested. That's when peoples true colors come out and you start to see how many douchey players p99 really has, which is roughly 80% from what I've experienced.

Been on the server for two weeks, and there's a lot of low levels running around, even in Western Antonica. People I met were friendly. Wish I had more time to play though.

If you look at this server without your rose colored goggles, you would see that everyone isn't sunshine and butterfly farts. The forum trolls are the ones who act like everyone is oh so nice, when they have been playing for either 15 minutes, or 5 years.

15 minutes is long enough to meet a handful of people, and the ones who are likely to talk to you, are the nice ones.

After 5 years, you are likely to know 90% of the server to some degree, and name recognition will get you a nicer con to other players.

The server is fine as long as you aren't an entitled twit who expects it to revolve around you 24/7. 95% of his posts are "I asked DruidX to come PL me, they wouldn't." "GroupY was full and invited someone else when a spot opened up". "PlayerZ made a derogatory comment about rangers in OOC". The funniest part about Davardo is that he plays at L20. If he had to deal with the endgame, we'd find him dead next to his computer after suffering a triple aneurysm.

And even at 60 there are plenty of nice people willing to help you out if you are polite. Example: Taken helped us pull a trigger last night after our sky keys rotted owing to daylight savings time.

Disregarding the fact that OP has been outed as a multi-year troll I think the server is thriving. This era was a strange era in that there was never a level limit (required or reccommended didn't come till late Velious I think) meaning items retained a lot of their value. In addition, MQ exists rendering value to nodrop items which would intrinsically have no value.

The bottom line is and will be that there is a fairly large saturation in items and so compared to live, the prices on most things (barring a few outlier) are actually down. The negative to this is that, because of MQ everything has value so that while 50k might be a reasonable price for an Epic item (and it really is, look at the stats alone!!) Chances are you will be competing for people who just want the cash and will fuck you over to get it.

Tl;dr the server is a business for a lot of people padding their e-wallets. Nearly eveything in this era with these rules can be monetized so therefore you can pay their somewhat reasonable price OR compete against them at their own game to get it yourself.

This guy clearly has a talent for exaggeration and is upset that he burnt too many bridges. There is only one P99, dont burn bridges or you will end up like him.

It's easier to just leave. CoM has a nice modifier, but if you're constantly fighting for the next mob to spawn, you could have steady killing somewhere else and be gaining as much if not more experience.....without the headaches.

I'll tell you now since all my alts are past the level...but Kerra Isle was EMPTY! Could duo, trio, full group. Felt like our own game. There are areas like that at every level. Make it a challenge to find them.

That's not even close to the point. The OP is about the state of the server to which I made the point that once you travel somewhere heavily contested it becomes a giant nerdy circle jerk to which those "nice" level 10-20 players are now suddenly the common p99 douche because they're 40+ now and deaths/camps/penalties actually matter now.

While I agree new players shouldn't be fooled by the amount of doom and gloom on the forums, they also should get used to the idea that most players are not even close to as friendly as they may appear in low end of the game.

I've really not seen these problems at the high levle game that you speak of. At least not at camps. Contested raid mobs are obviously an issue, but exp camps and the general attitude of players is still friendly at all levels. Maybe it's you.

I have had some of the best groups I have ever been in in places like CoM, KC, Seb. The players that high are more "skilled" than low level groups. Still fun nun the less in low level groups.

Groups are what you make it. The puller makes more difference than anyone in groups I think. But I find getting a group in CoM is becoming harder and harder as of late??
