I searched his error, and I found nothing related to EQ. He shared with a friend of mine, and we tried everything I could think of to get it running.

What operating system are you using?
What's the last screen you see in the game startup, if any, before you get the error?

If you can copy your Everquest folder to another computer and see if it works, that would rule out the possibility that it has something to do with the installation. You can simply copy the folder to another computer and it will work, no "installation" needed.

i tried it on another machine and i get in no problem. once i get to the character screen it tells me spells are outdated.

will check out other thread to see what could be causing that issue.

still need help figuring out how to put it on this machine though :/

spells are outdated.

That is just needing this download http://www.project1999.org/files/P99Files30.zip and move into your Everquest folder.

What version of DirectX is on the machine that is working?

I am having a similar issue since updating from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1.

http://i.imgur.com/mMVyyjs.png

The client crashes with the above error after selecting any emu server and logging onto it.

I have tried:
- Running as admin
- Running in every compatibility mode option
- Reinstalling (uninstalling completely, reinstalling EQ titanium, deleting the necessary files and installing the P99 files)
- WinEQ2 with EQPlayNice

Can you restore to a date before 8.1 and try?

gotrocks

I'm going to do something I don't usually do and assume you guys getting this error have already messed with the resolution settings, and tried ALL combinations of desktop and in game resolution yet still getting this error.

My biggest question is are you guys running PC's/laptops that have an onboard graphics chip as well as a dedicated graphics card?

Heartwork

My mobo doesn't have an onboard gpu, no.

gotrocks

What is the dedicated graphics card?

I upgraded to 8.1 last evening after running EQ on my Win8 box for months and now I get that same exact error at the same exact time heartwork posted above.

As far as the graphics question goes... I am running dual GTX670s in SLI. EQ runs windowed on one monitor while I do everything else on the second monitor.

Going to be restoring back to just plain old 8 in the meantime... damn shame.

I'm getting a similar error with different numbers after the downtime today. Same Win7 machine that was working last night. Running in XP compatability mode not helping yet.

Hmm just started seeing a similar error since this recent downtime. playing with the resolution settings doesn't seem to do anything.

Are we sure this isn't kind of a generic error message?

I had the same issue while debugging my (non-technical) cousin and we finally fixed it by having him uninstall some beta GPU drivers that he installed for Battlefield 4 (or something).

I'm also getting this same message on my new ASUS T100 now. This is while attempting to log into the server.

It's definitely not a Windows 8.1-specific issue since I had this running on Windows 8 Pro and did an upgrade to 8.1 Pro with no problems at all on my main desktop.

Same issue here folks (cannot read memory error). I have changed absolutely nothing in the last 24 hours, and I was able to play last night and not able to today after the downtime.

Could this have something to do with the .dll that is unique to P99?

Edit: Tried the eqclient.ini window resolution fix that was suggested in an earlier post (with link). Didn't work, so additional information: Windows 7 x64 and running as admin w XP SP3 from shortcut. No driver updates since last working, no windows updates since last working, no hardware changes since last working, and no new programs installed since last working. Error appears after entering login information; when it would normally load server list, instead there is a hang then error message forcing the program to terminate.

Getting this error.

Running Lenovo U410. Windows 7 64 bit. Never seen a error before. Display is 1366x768.

Running on the on board videocard. It does have a dedicated vid card but still the same issue.

Guys login server is crashing from the updates that were done. check the news and announcement section.

I used 8.1 for about 3 hours and then restored back to 8. My frame rates drastically dropped when I switched to 8.1

I run a Radeon HD7770oc Edition, 16gb ram, Pentium i3. Nothing great.

As far as EQ and Project 1999 went on 8.1, it sucked balls.

My advice to all, unless you got a touchscreen -- fuck Windows 8.1

I'm getting this same error. Played just fine for 12+ months, logged off last night and everything was fine. Didn't change a thing, got home from work today and tried to log back in and now I'm getting this error right after I enter my login information.

Tried messing with eq.ini changing resolutions / windowed mode / etc. Didn't help. Tried running in administrator mode, ran from command prompt, set affinity to 1 processor, launched through WinEQ. Nothing seems to help.
