Anything really, I can't summon much but I do have some necklaces for example that add a small amount of AC.

Was wondering if that counted towards the Pet's AC.

Oh no idea, didnt get the necklaces, the waterstone makes a great junk buff and poor mans clickie if you summon a few of em ahead of time. The more you know!

Yeah definitely some oddities with pet/gear interaction here compared to live. The most obvious being giving your pet low delay weapons has no effect.

Speaking of this, When I watch pet damage with out weapons and then equip I see no difference at all in damage...

im not to positive weps work with pets either.

Currently using level 39 pets, but it was the same for all pets up to this level.

it may not be functioning properly.

Not on delay. Just damage, procs and magic vs non magic.

armor / ac items do not work for pets neither do hp or stat items

your pet requires 2 weapons to dual wield successfully tho, so give him 2 sword of runes as often as you can !

I always summon a bag of swords to give my pet, but with or without the swords it hits for around the same damage. ill try to get some screen shots.

the weapons need to be more dmg that its innate hand to hand. not sure if i worded that right but give him a 1 hander with a ton of dmg and youll def see a difference. mage swords are like 7 dmg or something, not gonna notice a diff.

Best move is giving up on the perfect cast..

Summon fire pet, dont buff or anything, pull with lvl 1 nuke, pull to pet, wide circle if you have to for pet agro, most of the time you wont. Then, run off more than the distance it would take a free running mob to get to you while you are summoning a new pet (sometimes I wont even see pet in clip plane), I usually go twice the distance but ya don't have to (most people will run up on pet first, or in the general area around him for pvp). When pet is getting low, start resummoning, the 5pts of dmg aggro you have will be easy for new pet to get control of. When mob is at 5%, click focus item, cast low lvl nuke, full exp win. Repeat. Can be rough at mid points between spell lvls, just cast more pets.

I think I see the issue, looks like the pets have a max damage per hit, so without weps it will get that max damage with weps he seems to hit max more often. at 39 pet it was 40 per hit with wep and without

Give your pet a fungi tunic and lets see if it regens, we will figure this out.

not true. give your pet an exe axe and see him hit past 40. if the dmg of weapons isnt greater than the max dmg hand to hand no dmg change. weapon only helps if its more dmg than its normal attack. max hit is without weapons.

Like it was said above weapons on pets only makes a difference in damage if the damage on said weapon is greater than half the max damage for that pet (ie. 7 dmg sword hits for 14 max). From 24 to 39 you can give your pet 2 weapons to get it to dual wield. Unless you're going for the procs there's no reason to give your pet weapons after 39. Not that I can think of anyway

ya weapons with procs, sword of runes (on summons), stun whips, snare swords, w/e you can afford really. there is some borderline exploits you can do with charmed pets, shit is pretty OP if you know whats available in the game (not on wiki) :)

brings up an interesting question, how can I tell what the max damage is hand to hand on my pet?

each pet can be 4 different levels, you can summon and reclaim energy till you get the strongest one, usually this is easiest to test with the self damage shield of fire pet ( The only pet you should be using ) at least until 51

With the quest focus items they all seem to con dark blue to me with the same text.

If you look at the pet guide it lists the max melee damage and spell/damage shield damage for each spell level. Summon one and kill something. You'll usually see at least 2 or 3 hits that are all the same. That's the max for that pet. If it's less than the wiki value for that pet reclaim and summon again

focus items give a slight hp boost and make the pets appear larger and add 1 level, so they can be 3 levels , the lowest level becomes unavailable with that item equipped

those focus items only work on pets up to 49 btw

I don't think it adds any levels just HP and it adds it in tiers:

Focused fire = unfocused air.
Focused air = unfocused water.
Focused water = unfocused earth.
Focused earth = ... Higher hp earth pet.

I believe the only focus item in game that adds levels is the encyclopedia necrothurgia for necros.

Water Mastery Staff drops in Kedge but you'd need a good group of 60's...here's a dude soloing Phinegel with a 60 in classic/kunark gear.
