I never understood the draw of voice chat other than for giving instructions in raids or for difficult group content/pvp.

I spend all day interacting with people at work...the last fucking thing I wanna do when I get home is listen to someone yap.

Maybe it's just me

I think it's the new generation of texting kiddos. They can't seem to function through oral communication. Likes little sister, ill call her and no answer. A second later she'll text me , sup? I blame wow

I've noticed that every time I'm in some guild's audio communication tool, there's always one person who talks way too much. This person is usually not someone in charge and usually someone who believes they have more responsibility than they do. Aside from that, it can be useful to get directions from voice instead of text.

this is not a guild tool, just offering to chat with a few people since world ooc doesnt exist and my zone is empty

I like chatting with people but always have a hard time making certain programs work right. I know it's me doing something wrong but don't know how to fix it. Really bad at this stuff.

Whitberry has offered his Teamspeak3 server for anyone that would like a channel. Just PM him. It's a very generous offer and he's trying to get more people to populate it. Here is a link to the thread http://www.project1999.org/forums/showthread.php?t=124214

Is the P99 mumble server still working? I know it lost sticky status when a bunch of stickies got cleaned up.

Used to be people in there a lot.

Maybe it's just meMe too. I rarely talk in Ventrillo even. I generally reserve talking to work, my kid, and trying to get laid.

The worst thing about voip is everyone seems to use something different. I'm not downloading 50 different programs just to chat with every person that wants to =P

i play MMO's for the people. they are fun because of the other players. any MMO is infinitely more fun when you have a group of great friends to chill with while playing on voice chat

ban these programs! 3rd party software is bad! its not classic!

I hate having to join vent in a raid even if its juts to listen, I would hope by now that most people know these encounters and if they don't have the ability to pre read about encounters without having someone go through detail after detail of these silly easy encounters.

The only thing necessary to know is tank order, ch order, and when to burn. all can be easily typed in seconds.

and when shit hits the fan having 20 people yelling over each other that so and so is dead, enc charm broke, mage_01's pet keeps breaking mez blahblahblah. Its not necessary.

hmm I put way to much time into this, down with voicechat! DOWN I SAY!!!

Im not looking for voice chat for raids or that nature. Im looking for voice chat to shoot the shit and pass the time while doing the xp grind.

I would expect all raids to be moderated in game by /rsay but I am a social creature and I like talking to folks.

Rhambuk
10-24-2013, 05:58 PM
There is no rsay anymore, not classic bro.

There have only been a couple of people I like chatting with over voice but then again there are only a couple people i really like chatting with in game =p

seriously though i love chatting in groups, i don't play a bard or another button masher so i have plenty of time to type and it really helps with my immersion having more text to read and more to type. besides you can't really RP over voice chat, i mean you can but when you try to be an ogre people think yur dum

I have a RL buddy who wont play anything without voice chat...but he also has no job and sits at home in his room all day. My theory is his lack of social interaction is what leads to wanting/liking voice chat.

Is this the case with the Pro Voice chat people? Do you have jobs? Any social interaction outside of voip?

Not trying to bag on anyone...just curious.

yes.

I would think the person who hates voice chat would be the person with little to no friends because he would be socially awkward. i don't think job has anything to do with it though

Or the other way round... People who got on just fine communicating via text in MUDs and EQ and don't want to listen to people yap for hours.

I've also worked in call centres before, I'll never wear a headset again.

I have a full time job and so do my friends, it is just easier with the 3 of us to shoot the crap and catch up since we dont live near eachother anymore.

It is also clearly a handy tool in groups, but I suppose to each their own
