Hey everyone!
I heard about the generous xp bonus being offered due to our server EQ Mac getting shut down and figured I would give it a chance over here. I've been spending the last hour or so reading through your forums and I'm considering giving PVP a shot for a change. Thanks for the post runlevelzero it gave me some insight on what I should expect at least haha.
From what I see on the main page the population is roughly 1k players vs. 150 players normal vs. pvp servers. Is that about the population total I'd expect to see playing here? I was looking forward to rolling as a melee of some kind, perhaps of the tank variety, but it looks like that might be a rough path to take unless I start up with some other fresh faces to level with.
I don't have a ton of pvp experience on this game, so any pointers or guidance on playing melee as a starting character here would be awesome! Is the struggle I'll face leveling up worth it in the end etc etc?

Just log on and give it a go! the community for the most part on Red are just awesome and always willing to help a new player! and I am talking from first hand experience.

I just started seriously playing a few days ago, first thing I learned is that if you have see invis...keep it up at all times.
So far had nothing but a great time here so far, amazing community.

Your welcome OP ) and yeah only thing stopping a large casual guild of super friendly people is population really. But theres a ton of good peeps on this box.

Finally making a character.. I am leaning towards SK, never really played that class and I'm looking for something new.
Is Iksar AC bonus and natural regen worth taking? Or maybe Ogre for frontal stun immunity?

Just remember, Iksar SK = -80% Exp (iirc)
Made a newbie iksar named Animosity if anyone starts new on that side of the world and wants to grind some skeletons and scorpions w/ me :cool:
XP Penalty may deter you. Most of the NPC world will hate you. However you've got some great survivability in pvp, especially at low levels. Harm touch will make quick work of most of your adversaries in the beginning.

iksar sk = 68% penalty.
hugely offset by the massive xp bonus red has, but still painful.
my sk is 23 and an iksar, OP. if you want to duo pm me when you hit ~22

Someone will gift you a weapon im sure. Then the hard part is sticking with it, because the grind can be long and lonely.
Yeah I'm more looking to meet up with some other lowbies to grind with, hoping a few more show up from eqmac :)

More like 1-2 days, lots of people usually chill there and have friends buff them, im sure theyd buff you too. Just gotta get lucky.

You never know! I want to attempt to keep up on my sk weapon quest too, probably best 1 hander I can get til I can attempt IBC anyways. That'll take some time away from straight lvling I'd imagine.
I'm in no rush hehe

Careful of Unrest. Azrael has lvl 20-30rogues camped there with epics/fungis to take out their frustration on noobs.

I noticed a new guild called the Unrest County Police (obviously some alts) wrecking cloth wearing true-newbs in Unrest.
Just stay away from the zone. Not sure whos alts it is, but people just go there to grief.

Hit level 9 last night and got my first SK spells, good times!
If any prospective new players reads this.. I strongly encourage starting up here. Everyone I've come across so far has been very inviting and helpful. I'm sure I am in for plenty of grief down the road but that's to be expected. :D
