First of all. This is not your server. No one owns it other than Rogaen and the staff. You are entitled to nothing. Even if you put in 4 years here. You are only entitled to the respect and loyalty you develop amongst your comrades. It doesn't matter who you were in previous communities to random strangers in a virtual world.
So welcome to prison. You are at the bottom of the ladder. You haven't put in years of work building up characters and pixels. So don't feel like you "deserve" to beat every fungi twink out there. Is it wrong that people play MMO's like this? Yeah, but get over it. You didn't roll here to be entitled a fair and level playing field. Thats something you have to earn and work towards with your fellow players. It is the single most important motivation for teamwork. So deal with it as the reality it is and focus on a cohesive goal with other good like minded players. The goal of defeating these enemies.
Don't ever share account info if you care about the pixels/characters on that account. Just don't do it. Don't ever expect someone to not delete your chars, or appreciate what you do. Some do. And some don't. It's incredibly hard to find the people with good character. If you want to share. Do it wisely with things you don't care to lose permanently. If your going to be nice, be nice for you, not the other person.
If someone is nice enough to help you out and share with you. Remember that help. That doesn't mean "don't pvp them".
But don't flame them, grief them, tell them they suck in /ooc. Or be a general dick to others with the stuff they give to help you.
What is griefing? Griefing is disrupting someones play for no other reason except to make them quit. The specific definition is variable. But you only "grief" players you are willing to never see again. Killing someone fighting a mob is not griefing. Killing someone on a CR is not griefing. Doing it repeatedly is. Causing XP death over and over is. PvP happens and soemetimes you can't stop xp death and sometimes, you have to kill someone on a CR.
If your killed in pvp and you aren't interested in contesting a camp or zone ask for Loot and Scoot, and take it if its offered. If you don't ask for loot and scoot people will automatically assume your up to no good. That doesn't mean loot and XP in the same zone. Go find another xp spot.
If you want to contest and you get CC'd don't complain about it. Your contesting and they're eliminating you as a threat. Log off and come back later if you can't get your gear.
If a fight is even remotely fair and you plug. You suck. Don't deny people YT because you have an ego. If they jumped you fair and square its disrespectful to deny the other player the chance to win. If you want to make enemies. Plug, and train, and be a general nuisance without ever actually fighting to win or lose. I don't think its wrong to plug to overwhelming odds if your getting ganked by epiced characters at level 20. But its bullshit to plug 1v1 to an even con player who you could run away from. I didn't even plug to 3v1 odds even after I was rooted and pelled. I still escaped. I proved I was good. And the other players had a chance to kill me. I proved they couldn't do it so easily. This earns respect or infamy, whatever it is you want.
Carry pumice and sow pots. It doesn't matter what your stats are, someone will root you and pell you. You will need to escape. If you escape legitimately without plugging you will earn the respect of your fellow pvpers.
Don't attack people coming to group with you. If someone is being annoying feel free to kill them. But don't deliberately trick random strangers to coming group you will earn a bad reputation. If you had FFA pvp and someone didn't even make you loot and scoot, and you jump them for letting you stay in zone. You are being a disrespectful jerk. If you invite them to groups just to kill them later you are also being a jerk. PvP happens. It doesn't mean you have to be a vengeful prick about it. You don't have the population to make enemies out of everyone you ever had a confrontation with.
It's nice to say good fight, or compliment your enemies on good tactics they use. People may say you suck. Because this community is full of bad sports. But telling them they suck back doesn't make things any better. Many players came here expecting to just dominate the game unilaterally and when they found out they had to play nice still with others they became jaded and bitter.
Come here to fight, pvp, make friends, make enemies. Don't come here trying to change the face of Norrath. Norrath will always be what it is. A brutal and anarchistic place. Enjoy it. Because it is a unique and free frontier where your reputation does matter. Believe it or not. Sure there's guilds with evil players in them. But that won't last forever. In the years to come those guilds will fall when they stop relying on "necessity".
The good fighters are coming. The best of the best are growing in number. The playing field is leveling.
