If charmed pets were like live and gave back weapons once you killed them or if you have plat to spare:

DawnFire/Ghoulbane
Yaks of assorted varieties
Steel Hilted Flint Dagger

Ya, great weapons, but since they go poof when handed to a pet, a little spendy. I once gave a Steel Hilted Flint Dagger to my bst pet on live, it was sick.

Rod of Lamentation.

Personally I don't like the Deadwood Staves; they break root too much.

Serrated Bone Dirk and Kitch Der Pavz (sp?) Were also popular when they could be relooted.

for some added flavor, you can also give them a single bard instrument to force dual wield.

I like this right here. Would probably lose my shit if I saw a lute playing skele whooping my ass.

Classically it was Fine Steel Daggers, because 3/18 lowered your pets delay yet kept his damage insanely high. That got nerfed. Then it was Sword of Runes. That got nerfed. Then it was Gnoll Hide Lariats. The drop rate on those got nerfed.

Weighted Axe will break a lower level pet's dmg cap, it's a really fun way of powerleveling your necro.

Can't do Weighted Axe - tried in my level 8 Necro. What is the 2h damage cap for a pet? I was thinking of maybe keeping a couple Axe of the Ironback laying around for just that.

Also Shiny Brass Halberd is a good choice too.

Has anybody confirmed if there are any higher level npcs that don't even need a secondary item to duel wield?

Any monk NPC has innate duel wield. Greater War Boned Skeleton in BW and CoM will fist fuck you for 3's.

I always look for them every time I go to hhk and give them to a level 4-8 soloing in EC or Nro. Always shocks them to see their pet hit for 28 at level 4.
