I'm starting a melee and am still on the fence about which class.

I wanted to make an Iksar so I was thinking warrior at first. At end game is it a problem if you don't have the best gear as a warrior? Can a decently geared warrior still get the job done in pvp/raids?

The decision between a monk/rogue really comes down to PvP. Are rogues too squishy in group pvp? Would a monk/warrior/paladin/sk just destroy a rogue? With my play time it would be nice to obtain the epic and be pretty much done with my main hand all through velious without needing an upgrade. Between a monk/rogue I like the play style of a rogue more but with resists being changed making poisons less usable and depending on how weak they are vs other melees I would stray and go with monk or warrior.

Please refrain from it depends on the player and a well played rogue can beat any class if they have the skill. I don't want to get side tracked with personal bs.

I would really like to hear from some vets that currently play the classes and have seen their fair share of large scale pvp fights.

you're overthinking it. play what you feel you'd enjoy most.

that being said, all 4 classes will not be a fun leveling experience, as groups are almost non existant during the leveling process. I'd personally go monk just for the soloability factor with mend, intimidation, and FD.

I don't really care about the leveling aspect of it. Monk is an obvious choice as far as leveling.

I'm really focusing on raiding/mass pvp.

Are warriors that don't get the role as main tank in raids still viable in the raid or are they just a back up in case the main tank dies?

Monk is the easiest to pvp and level. In PVE you need to know how to pull.
War is very dependent on gear but easy to play in mass pvp. In PVE you need to know how to tank and position.
Rogue is the hardest to pvp with but the easiest to raid with.

good post.

Monk/Rogue epics are really easy, as well. Warrior wont happen. Consider that consideration. I see a lot of warriors burnout around 52 when content just becomes no fun without a group or a lot of gear. Rogue is easily soloed to 59 if you have half a brain, probably same goes for monk.

Server is Rogue heavy because the epic is so easy to obtain, i would encourage warrior for fun high end pvp because you are likely to be the last target which gives you the most time to run around smashing people. Rogues are highest priority dps target as they lack the survivability that monks possess.

there's nothing more satisfying among those three classes than duelisting and dropping some poor fuck with a single backstab

This was the kind of post I was looking for, thanks for the info. I really wanted to be a warrior iksar to try something different but the monk has a lot of benefits. Being able to FD in dungeon pvp is pretty damn valuable. Also the gear dependency of the warrior scares me off because I'm on the bottom of the totem pole as far as gear on this server.... too many rich people here.

Your current hits on sitting targets are the theoretical maximum for your damage table, as if you were granted maximum strength, maximum attack, and maxxed out skills for that round.

That's going to be changed to your normal maximum hit, so I wouldnt base choosing a character on those numbers. ;-)

Monk. Ogres sucks. Wars are pretty awesome.

It's a good change IMO. makes those stats meaningful and not just your class. Again.

Clerics are tough to actually kill. Hardest class for a wizard. If on an even footing.

Cleric with primal velliums may one day be pretty badass on RT99
