I previously posted this:
Good Evening,
I was disappointed to find that The silvered halberd
http://www.eqtraders.com/items/show_item.php?item=2921&menustr=035000000000
is not in game when it definitely was back in kunark days. Please see the following link for a snapshot from the old EQtraders, and if you could put the item in game as a smithing recipe we'd all appreciate it.
Thank you

What I was saddened to find out is that Silvered weapons completely do not work on this server.
here are the trivials
http://www.eqtraders.com/search/recipe_search.php?menustr=035040000000 (yes i know its not the oldest link but its the most comprehensive i could find)
if you click on each weapon it will show the recipies too.
I was instructed by guides to post on the bugs forum again mentioning this so here i am again :)
Please give this thread some love Nilbog?

When were silvered weapons first craftable?
Need that information to proceed.

I followed the recipes exactly and they dont work! I checked the silvery blades book in the game, plus looked up the recipes on p1999wikki, and alakazam. It's really annoying because it took me a long time to get all the ingredients and paying for jacinth and paying for the enchanter to enchant so now I have everything needed and almost no plat. left, and I cant make the weapon I spent almost 2 weeks trying get everything together for. My blacksmith skills are way above what is needed too, but I cant combine the items.

Werewolf Hunter quest on Alla entered Dec 28, 2000 - the reward is a book in another language on how to craft silver weapons

First comment on their presence is from July 22, 2000, people still figuring it out by late 2001. Presumably silvered weapons would have been in game upon the introduction of these NPCs.

When was the first appearance of the werewolf hunters? I'm willing to look into and implement these missing recipes, but I'd also like to fix the npcs at the same time.

Earliest comment from Sept 01 2000 here about Fixxin Followig, leader of the werewolf hunters. No mention of newness.
Fixxin runs with a group of 4 NPC in the NE corner of the zone. They have an aggro range that is unbelievable and will attack Dark Elves before you can see them. They track near the spawn point of Regis, so DE clerics be careful. Stay invis and have Resist Magic buff, you might make it to the Chain Bridge if they attack.
First mention of a quest is April 03 2001 (with a response in july about what the book is). Title of the comment is "Post-Patch Enchanted Blade info"
There is a quest associated with this fella. Talking to him he will ask you for a bar of silver. Give one to him and he will give you a book. I think that the book is written in gnome, my halfling druid can not read it.

Relevant comment from Nov 16 2000 (bolding mine):
I was told by someone that this group is referred to as the werewolf hunters. Apparantely they hunt a lot more than werewoves. :) I have to say, I hadnt read this board before encountering them. I am a high elf magician, and have no faction that a light race should not have, ie, I have never killed any druids, treants, whataver, only gnolls, orcs and inky guards.. the usual. I found them mildly amusing, watching them stump around, an odd procession, which is what caught my attention, a halflinf female, a dwarf male, a gnome male and a barbarian male all following each other on a track. :) I hailed them, no response. I tried waving, crying, and a variety of other actions, and no response. At that time we were near the withered treant, so I thought they might offer good protection. I sat down to med. A few minutes later, they had marched on. I still see them a lot, but I have no idea what provokes them. I still think there little entourage is really really cute. :) I get a kick out of watching them walk by. I dont know if I can count on them for protection tho.. by what I hear they are pretty powerful and I would like to see if they can drop GrimFeather is I ever am in a bind. :) Another theory is that they might be a part of a quest that has not beem implemented yet. I am almost wondering.. and this is just a THEORY.. but if you have ANY negative faction with ANY of their races, you could be screwed. I happen to know that because of the amount of mobs that I have killed, I con warmly to Kaladim, Rivervale, Halas, AND Ak'Anon, ie I have killed countless goblins, orcs, minotaurs and gnolls. And I dont just mean amiable. I mean WARM. *shrug* thought I would offer my 2cp. I dont know if this wil help anyone. I hope so.
^^ So there was no quest attached to them at this time.
Next comment from July 2001 about a quest:
I turned in the bar of silver that Fixxig asks for and recieved good faction for Knights of Thunder and the Priests of Life, both which are in Qeynos. The book tells how to create a silver weapon to use in a fight against werewolves. Bad thing is, you need a level 49 enchanter to enchant the High Quality Ore you will need to make into a sheet of metal.

Item entry for Silvered Long Sword, first comment from Nov 2001:
This is the earlier version of the sword. The current stats are 7/27.
I have send in the correction, but I guess it has not been processed yet.
It is made like a normal forged longswoard, except you use an enchanted sheed ot metal, and add in a bar of silver.
There is a whole line of silvered weapons. I expect all weapons that can be forged, can be made in a silvered version. I have personally made, long sword, mace and spear.
They sell for around 75 pp to merchants.
Potential patches (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/history/patches-2001-1.html) - March 2001 (2 patches)
- There are a ton of new recipies for trade skill users out there.
Check your books.
- There are a bunch of new quests as well.
Several new quests have been added as well, so don't be afraid to talk
to the folks of Norrath, they might have new information for you.

Reference to the werewolf hunters in the Regis the Reverent part of the Sol Ro Cleric armor quests (Jan 2002):
I have seen the double Regis a couple of times. Seems that if Regis is still up when Zahal dies after he respawns (4 hours i think) you'll get a double Regis.
They must have changed the pathing on the werewolf hunters because once upon a time you had to haul **** over to Regis as soon as Zahal died so that you could pull him away from the zone edge and the path of the hunters. Now he can be up for hours and hours without getting smacked down by the werewolf hunters...
Another comment, same entry, from Nov 2000:
3. go to nk and use SENSE DEAD..if zahal isnt in ur target, slain all undeads who are..stay near the druid-gate on a lil hill where skells and ghouls spawn and kill them..Use Sense DEAD the whole time, after some minutes (monday: 15:20, 0.10 GMT he spawnd for me)he will spawn..dont run trough him and try to kill him, the npc-werewolfhunters will do that for u..
Jul 2000:
You don't, in fact, need to kill Zahal the Vile. There are some werewolf hunters that wander the area and will eventually kill him, so all you need to do is sit on Regis' spawn point and wait for him.
The NPCs weren't listed at this link (http://im12.curtisfong.org/eq/QoN/index2e.html) (last update mentioned on main page was Nov 12 1999 (http://im12.curtisfong.org/eq/QoN/index2.html)) (yes, it's Japanese - some parts in English, and there's an English version of main page).
There's no telling if the person who made that map missed the NPCs because they wander or if they simply weren't there.
---------------------------------
Conclusion: I think the NPCs were either always there or added in early Kunark. I think the weapons were likely added mid-Velious along with the rest of the tradeskill recipes. The recipes were put in a book and used in a minor quest with the werewolf hunters because werewolves are allergic to silver and all that.
The NPCs should path over Zahal the Vile and close enough to Regis to aggro and kill him if he's not pulled out of the way. (I think Regis's spawn point may need to be moved?) All of them should assist each other if a player is KoS to any one of them and gets aggro from one.

Okay from what I can tell, the werewolf hunters were present in 1999.

Pending update,
Fangbreakers pathing, scripts, hail messages, faction etc corrected.
For Fixxin Followig, I enabled the 'enchanted blade' response and silver bar turn in as November 2000.
Regarding the Silvered weapons, should all of these be craftable?
21569 Silvered Battle Axe
21566 Silvered Dagger
21570 Silvered Halberd
21574 Silvered Javelin
21577 Silvered Long Sword
21572 Silvered Mace
21580 Silvered Pick
21567 Silvered Rapier
21571 Silvered Scimitar
21568 Silvered Short Sword
21575 Silvered Shuriken
21578 Silvered Spear
21576 Silvered Throwing Axe
21573 Silvered Throwing Knife
21579 Silvered Warhammer
Yes, those should all be craftable. I think at least one of them had different stats upon introduction but were changed to what we see now on Allakhazam shortly afterwards.
https://web.archive.org/web/20010417085149/http://www.eqtraders.com/secrets/recipes_smithing_weapon_stats.htm
^ States that the silvered long sword should be 6/27 rather than 7/27 (May 2001).
https://web.archive.org/web/20011213222412/http://www.eqtraders.com/secrets/recipes_smithing_weapon_stats.htm
^ This snapshot from Dec 2001 has 7/27 as well as stats for mace, spear, and scimitar.
What I don't know is if they staggered implementing the recipes...it's doubtful since these are essentially magic versions of the regular forged stuff, but I can't access the old ezboard for EQTC anymore, so I can't read any of the tempting posts about tradeskills. :( It looks like they didn't know all of the recipes until after Feb 2002.
https://web.archive.org/web/20020802195929/http://www.eqtraders.com/secrets/smithing_weapons.htm
^ This one from August 2002 mentions that enchanted sheets of metal could only be made by human smiths in the human cultural forge until June 5 2002 (the rest of the recipe can be made in a normal forge). Also notes that two handed sword, bastard sword, and morning star are not valid silvered weapons.
