Hey there,

I started playing on p99 just a month ago and the very first thing I noticed was that decaying skeletons aggro you now.
I am 100% sure that they did not on live. They always said ready to attack, but never aggroed unless you fought another skeleton and were low on life.
I know that so well, because it always made me wonder.

Excellent point. This is actually NOT classic for our timeline! I'm glad you brought it up because its been bothering me for a while.

I specifically remember the patch note when decaying skeletons were made to aggro regardless of level. I don't remember if this applied JUST to decaying skeletons, or to all skeletons, but this is definitely NOT classic.

Of course, I'm too lazy to dig up the patch note. One of the bug forum masters should do it for us, i bow to their mad patchnoteskills :D

Just decaying ones. Normal skeletons jumped me all the time. God, I hated them. :)
I actually think that the aggro range of normal skeletons is too short.

This also was the first confusing thing I noticed on p99. I played eq from beta, 100% they did not aggro.

The Freeport ones did, the Nektulos ones didn't

I remember this subject came up a loong time ago. I remember the decaying skeletons in Gfay did NOT agro.

I was almost positive that *none* of the decaying skeletons aggro'd.

Again, there was definitely a patchnote about this, it was about a paragraph long, and specifically pointed out they were making all decaying skeletons aggressive to make farming bone chips easier (lol i swear). I'm unsure if it mentioned specifically that ALL decaying skeletons were not aggro'ing before the patch, so it needs to be found!

I hate using the wayback machine, so thats the best I can do :D

I know the ones in the Freeport deserts did.

Nektulos definitely didn't, just the regular skeles.

Can't say for sure about Gfay.

I also recall the Nektulos wizard portal was a tri spawn with a rarely spawned lesser mummy or zombie (night time only + rare?).

The skeleton ruin out near EC entrance had a single spawn like this too for a mummy and iirc from checking it here, there aren't enough mobs @ that one.

It was a very popular camp on live.

it was rare the mummy/zombie @ spire and ppl would just train it to guards to clear

I think the spire one I remember he would spawn as sitting at first lol

Which makes sense, because the skeletons did too.

Piles of bone that would seemingly reanimate.

I definately remember decaying skeles being Indifferent and non-agro. Mind you I quit about 3 months after Kunark Launch and came back about PoP.

Skeles deff agro'd though.

Ruins in ec sand should only have 1 non skelly and rare. Def was a popular camp.

Be that as it may, it is still incumbent that some evidence, rather than anecdote, be presented.

Yaw dunno, if I was on who wants 2 be a millionaire, and the million dollar question was, were decaying skeletons kos in nektulos, I would instantly lock in my final answer as no.

Nektulos, Everfrost, and Gfay decaying skeletons 100% were non aggro. I leveled up noob characters a few times in each of those pre Velious, and know for a fact they would just wander on by you (unless a fight with another skelly was going on).

Everfrost needs this distinction as I clearly remember just casually cruising on by the decaying and nothing ever happening - it was the Vengefuls that would say "hello" every time. I had no particular reason to steer clear of the decayings at any level in the canyons - just those guys.

lol if you think every change was in patch notes.

I think this was fixed a long time ago.
