If I were SIMPLY looking at best gear available for a cleric who would I go? Including cultural, quests, wearable etc.

Dark Elves look the best in plate, hence Dark Elf is always the answer.

Hehe, but for min/maxing purposes which would you go?

Gnome worshiping Brell Serilis is probably best. Get access to imbued&enchanted dwarven armor (for however long it lasts in that status) and robes.

Come end game Velious or Kunark you'll want a robe wearing class for full BIS:

Otherwise BIS (imo) is

Thanks Ele! That is helpful. Now. Let me put a twist on it. Assuming I'm not going to be a top-end raider or even in the raid scene much does this change in your opinion?

Also, do we know if they're going to be removing the cultural or just making it non-craftable going forward?

If you don't intend to BIS with Sal'Varae's Robe, then honestly any race is okay.

Halflings get +5 exp modifier, hide and sneak, but no robes (if fashion is your thing) can not wear the +wis version of Dwarven armor.
Gnome get tinkering (nice to play with but not essential) (brell gnomes get +wis version)
Dark Elves get hide and can wear robes (DE armor not nearly as good as dwarf, but still cool)
Dwarves have the best starting stats over all
Erudite, human, high elves -- bleh longshanks all of them

The Dwarven imbued/enchanted is very hard to beat in terms of awesome gear from 1-60. Unfortunately, we have not had a dev response regarding that outcome of the currently available cultural armor in light of the needed change to include gems with the enchanting of the cultural metals.

so why did you roll halfling

because hide/sneak were OP when I rolled :(

plus Rivervale and Misty are the best ever (besides the lack of peridots!!!)

plus hobbits

WTB race change to gnome.

Another min/maxer... you're scared to group with hybrids then? :p

Dark elf clerics look great, sound great and are just overall a great choice. That said, erudite clerics are far too sparse, would be nice to see some around :p

Why would you need to min/max a cleric anyway?

20 mana difference could make all the difference in the end game.

dark elves look great in the dark blue armor, havent seen ones stats but i do have a high elf cleric and i have no problem having 255capped wisdom by pure accident. More of a "looks" guy than a min/maxer.

Red robe looks pretty sweet on a cleric.

Yep, have that equipped. Only problem is the weight increase from it.
