Looking for input.

TL;DR at the bottom.

Read this as short ideas/notes on guild creation, there is no real structure, no conclusion, just a ongoing list of thoughts/ideas around building a guild that is more immersive than any currently offered on either server. Closest thing I can think of to compare it would be the guild on eqmac that only does progression content and can't use the pok books/bazaar ect. But even then, vastly different. No real room for lazy on the part of contributing members, but the spectators/bystanders, you're in for a show.

If you have questions or are looking to see what other thoughts might be out there around a certain aspect of the guild: structure, player made quests and their rewards, or anything else, just ask. I'll expand on the idea addressed.

****

Sup everyone, I dunno about you, but in the luxury of my life I have a lot of think time every day. A good portion of this is consumed by ever quest. I'm really considering taking it to the next level. But I need help.

I'm looking to be part of a process that founds a number of guilds on the server almost solely for the purpose of providing a more immersive leveling experience.

We have a few months before the launch date is even possible so we might even give it a shot here on red to maybe carry over on teams.

This is a really basic idea of what I'm thinking right now for the project. Nothing in concrete at this point, more of a set of bullet points and ideas. Please feel free to add your own or more to ideas already listed.

================================================== ===
Although a leveling guild, the actual project is more about providing an alternative experience for anyone burned out on the current scene. We're not lookin for glory here, just a good time.

No room for twinks, but we do have a role for you twinks out there if you would also like to participate (includes ganking us), more on that later.

If you wish to join and are an established character on the server, even better.

I know the idea of a start from scratch is disgusting, and that is exactly why we wont be doing that. Instead, we would like to develop a system of intra-guild quests and bounty hunting that would offer a reward based on the type of encounter ie. PvP and item collections from foreign lands would offer items desirable for pvp and itemcollection/quests in your home land would offer rewards like loop dreams. (Edit, "loop dreams" is a reference to a guy that farmed the shit out of forest loops trying to get a item that does dick in pvp, would have to be a regular community member to catch that reference.)

Recruits 1-12ish are given a weapon better than rusty when they join. Just the bs we all have in bank rotting.

2-3 guilds built on the basic evil, neut, good ideology/intent. Each team owns an area, looking for ideas here. But I thought it might be cool to have a deathfist sash/crushbone belt collection quest for item rewards from the guilds. This would promote a bit of pvp and the items needed for collection would have to be collected in the enemies homeland. It might even be possible to gear your character like this, perhaps for the hardcores, even better rewards for more/greater accomplishments.

Thoughts on quest/bounty rewards. Some sort of /random 8 with items in corresponding bag slots? Kinda working on this one, don't really want it to be choice, kinda like killing a boss, a loot table pops and ya roll on that. any ideas welcome.

Too keep from blazing through this, we'll probably keep killing greens, the idea being that there is a ongoing war on this server, you may choose to ignore them, but when the other team comes looking for pvp loot and you're caught in the fray, joining what seem to be the good guys might not be such a bad idea, and who knows, day one, ya might have a sword in your hand and a twinkle in your eye. Welcome back to ever quest.

Leveling to 16 isnt that hard, so we will probably also have characters in high traffic zones till maybe lvl 30? If by then you want to continue the journey, so be it. But you are also free to leave when you feel that you are past your leveling stage and would like to look for a raid guild.

Over time it would be possible to turn in your old rewards with additional player quest items for upgrades or the next level of item. This would allow the locals to still appear that way, clearly distinguishable from the common recruit by the level of gear they have attained. If ya want to be the hero/destroyer of crushbone, go for it.

Twinks and gankers, hey ya could just pk us all day until one of the mains logs and the expected occurs. Or we could play together, We would actually like some of you out there to log on at random while we have groups as part of the player quests (rarespawn!), perhaps we could even set up a player event raid on you or a team of you? Not all out skill fest, but ya know maybe some basics, even pveish combat, we tank ya or something. Might be fun to see how many of us it would take to raid a group of you. It's a game.

Looking for people interested in playing roles, want to be a spawn in unrest? We could give ya a set of items and if our guild does manage to down ya when you "pop" you grant them the reward.

Organized pvp meetings/player events- Perhaps a elf comes running into gfay shouting about a troll sighting? Expected but not occurring at a set time. Basically, we're tired of killing orcs, /tells to the rival guild for pvp? Yeah. Ok, we're otw in the next hour. To arms!

These would not just be events either, each meeting would allow members a chance at progressing their character at a rate far beyond normal play. You wont have +hp rings / +mr bracers from killing orcs, but you could through guild quests. So taking time to come pvp would also offer a chance at advancing your character. Also providing the innocent bystander with something more than the barren waste land they have always read about. I know pvp is fun at the higher end, but with a little effort we could make it fun at the lower end too and potentially increase the servers image and population at the same time.

================================================== ===

I think that may be it for now, I have a lot more random thoughts about it but I'd also like to let those ideas marinate with other ideas from members of the community. I know there are a lot of great ideas out there, don't be afraid to share em here. I'll read em and see what else we can come up with. This idea is open to any who wish to take part in it. Make an alt and come play, it's a game we all seem to love.

Also, if you're interested in playing a bigger role in this, like leading one of the guilds, helping create the story, lore, officers, trainers- thinking PvP 101 as part of the guild, donating to the cause, whatever, if ya want to help at a high level PM me and we can discuss it further.

TL;DR : A player run quest system/meta game for making characters within a ruleset to pvp without much time investment while being able to earn rewards adequate to give an edge over fresh recruits in an ongoing war during the 1-30ish leveling range while also providing new players on the server with a set of guilds to organize pve and pvp with for fun.

Thanks

If we get anything good put together soon, we might even be able to create a teamsish environment over here and advertise on blue, with all the curiosity surronding the new server , if we pulled out heads out of our asses and just played for fun till launch as a server, we might just pick up a lot of people until then, and what if it gets delayed? Still might have a increased pop that can come from having a good experience on eq. If I logged on and into this the first time I played (way after kunark) I would be hooked and probably forget all about blue. It's up to us.

Slightly confused. Although I only took a word from the first, middle, and last sentence.

After re reading a few times it looks like what your describing is kind of what EQ Next is going after. Player progression through dynamic events etc with swtor type faction/player choices that make the world alter around you. A "RL" mmorpg.

It's a good idea for Next but wouldn't work here. +1 for suggestions though.

Yeah, I could give it more structure, but what I really wanted out of this thread was some ideas people might have about guilds to blend with mine. It's best read as random talking points about the creation of the guild. How to make it more immersive, how to make it more fun for everyone, and how to make items obtainable before you can farm them.

If I could get some random guild creation ideas from the crowd that would be great. If not, I'm gonna keep forging ahead with this and hopefully one day we'll have a ongoing battle at the low levels that everyone can get in on. Think of it as almost a rp guild but without the need to act like you're actually an elf. That's not what we're going for. We're looking to create a reason to play at lower lvls and pvp as an alternative to the common twinks destroying noobs in unrest. That will still go on of course, but with these guilds in place, it could be soo much more.

When people log on red, I would like them to be swept up into a ongoing war between 2-3 leveling guilds. Giving them something to see other than solo and hopefully within 30 levels or so hook them into continuing to play here beyond the leveling guild.

I would also like to see already established members of this community make alts to participate in this. Many of you have little more to do than wait for a raid mob or grief. This could be an alternative to that and might even be fun once we get the ball rollin.

Calling all heroes and villians. The worlds a stage.

I can see what you're sayin but we're not really lookin to have game play changes or anything like that, this is pretend. A make-believe guild within the confines of eq created solely for the purpose of making red a more enjoyable experience for new users. While also providing a constant source of pvp and ongoing story for the regulars to get in on while they aren't playing their mains.

It's about fun.

In the really short version, a battle for crushbone guild with characters equipped with items they earned in pvp player run guild quests. Not an army of super twinks. Perhaps even a betting system? Weekly cash pool for the victors? Who knows, it would be fun though if we could get even 10 of the 50 regular players involved in a back and forth battle at low levels, to make the initial impression of the server more desirable for new players. If some of you took it seriously, who knows, there might even be bragging rights for leading your group of noobs to victory.

No one cares if you live or die, your mains K/D ratio will still be safe.

If what your saying is you want to gear a guild of low level pvpers with "semi decent gear" that makes it fair but challenging for "new players" to fight them, in order to get drops in the zones that <Indigo Sabers> is guarding (with their nonfungi) items, and have those same pvp groups lead raids against people like Mrbigs. And the rewards being a bloodstained mantle for a level 8 ranger.

Sounds interesting. But I'm still busy trying to grind out a main. Not something I would personally consider till finally established on the server in some way other then as a perpetual noob myself. Would probably be fine with a little organization and a bit of checking on gear people are using to pvp with.

Be prepared to be trolled from the inside out though on this server...

Kinda nailed it there, and yeah, trollos are expected. But I think they could also make it fun. I think it might do harm than help to keep them in a bubble and grief is part of the game. But camaraderie is build on suffering. Perhaps it could make them stronger.

Also, the guilds members defending or invading or even exping in an area would always offer random player a seat on the bus. Come for the ride. If they do something even remotely resembles potential, we kick them a "bloodstained tunic" too.

It would be fun to battle over a lowbie zone(s) on our not super twink alts, bragging rights to be had in a skill gear>environment.
