So from everything I understand these things need to happen before the server is launched.

- Server Rules established
- Coding put in for those rules or changes
- New PVP developer added
- PVP changes such as resist have to be done before server goes live.
- Server hardware setup
- Server testing (internally or approved beta people)
- 1 to 2 months of advertising new server (confirmed by GMs)

Considering how long things have taken in the past I wold think 1-2 months if they work at a brisk pace and then 1-2 months to advertise as the GMs have said.

So this leaves the new server at a minimum of 3 months or more away.

Actually releasing it during winter recess would be perfect for my pal above me and myself. Two full weeks of unbridled poopsocking and griefing fags who are running the mail quest.

The problem is they have left R99 in limbo. No new people are going to come to R99 now that T99 is coming out and everyone know R99 will be dead as can be once that happens. So until T99 comes out R99 will slowly die even more.

If you announce a new server which will kill an existing server you better have a release date set and within 30 days.

I completely agree.

Minimum of 3 - 4 months until the server is released, and then X number of months until a possible merger. In addition multiple aspects of PvP mechanics still need tweaking, and yes I know a new Dev is inc, but when and what are their priorities etc.? Is the new server going to go live before PvP mechanics are tweaked? If the new server is not going live until the PvP mechanics are "fixed," then what happens if the new Dev doesn't get the job done ASAP? Even longer delays? Finally, what about Velious? Will the release of Velious be delayed until the PvP servers are merged?

Too many unknowns imo. Get used to playing in purgatory! Only time will tell how long it will last, and whether or not the new server will be heaven or hell.

P.S. I know we play here for free, and the Devs work / put up with a lot of shit with no compensation, but I get the feeling that the logistics of a new PvP server and a future merger were not well thought out. Its like four guys decided to publicly brainstorm about the possibilities of a new PvP server over some beers...

Thriving not allowed, its hard coded into the server.
