Frogive me, but as I recall hunting in South Karana,I had to sneak to use Krak windchaser the merchant aviak. He was always dubious I believe. Here, I do not need to. Also, hunting centaurs, they used to be social, ie assist. I never was able to kill or pull one next to another that conned blue, or higher.

Did some research for ya.

This seems to have been quite the random mystery even in classic. If you read over the comments, some folks were evil races and able to sell, some folks were good races and not able to sell. My theory is that it varies by deity. If you look at the Aviak faction page link at the bottom, there are no known ways to either raise or lower the faction.

Krak Windchaser Page (http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=3320)

Krak is found atop the Aviak villiage in South Karana. He is a Merchant and will sell to those who have not damaged their Aviak faction (apprehensive or higher).

There is no faction hit either way for killing Aviaks

I don't know about other classes with sneak, but as a human monk go behind him and sneak and if sucessfull he will conn better to you and deal with you.

The thing is, they were never on faction in SK. And I was a human agnostic monk then, and am now. So the only thing that changed is him...it also seems aggro radius on aviaks is much reduced. I do not recall being able to pull an avocet standing in the penthouse, with another standing on the next l;edge...

Centaurs same way, they used to be social.

Aviaks are still social.

They were on a faction or it couldn't have been dubious. But nothing gave faction hits. As a result, it was just transparent and behind the scenes.

My Human-Quellious-Monk had to use sneak to sell to the Aviak on EQLive. My Erudite-Agnostic-Enchanter could sell without illusions or faction spells. So...

Edit: It's odd that I remember stuff like that, but it's only because it's the first merchant my monk used with sneak, and it was the first time my enchanter had better faction by not using an illusion.

Aviaks are social, but I can pull a harrier from the ramp, and not have the avocet next to it aggro. It wasn't like that, it seems the aggro radius on aviaks and centaurs (all mobs?) is lesser.

And I remember Krak as dubious, I had to sneak, even as agnostic. And I hadn't killed an aviak till south karana.

Krak is on a different faction as the other aviaks. As far as i remember it was like that on live as well. Also, Aviaks never gave a faction hit on live either. It's solely dependant on the deity you select when starting your character
