Is anyone else tired of corpse spam? I am! Has any consideration been given to making corpses poof after a certain time period??

Right. Because there's a long line of clerics waiting to rez all of those idiots, right?

That's their problem. They should have to deal with it like we did back in the day imo. And, unfortunately, the spam is everyone else's inconvenience

It's a game they like to play

Right. Because there's a long line of clerics waiting to rez all of those idiots, right?

Do you see the logical fallacy here? You're conceding that there's not a long line of clerics waiting to rezz people, so it begs the question of why people leave a half-dozen corpses lying around if odds are against them getting rezzed anyway.

It really does get kind of silly when you go into Mistmoore and the entrance ramp is barely visible. Or you go into Freeport and people get creative with corpse art and it lasts a week. Or GMs sit in the EC tunnel and see "Fatcock******'s corpse" and don't do anything about it.

I agree whole-heartedly, frefaln. This custom rule was, as i understand, originally implemented when the server's population was small and there weren't many clerics around. The server's current population is close to the way it was during classic era. Imo it's high-time we retracted this rule and made it so that corpses disappear at the rate they should..

One of the priority concerns for source development is accurate corpse and res timers as per classic. Not my area of expertise, but I don't think its easy. We need these fixed for Plane of Sky onward.

Obviously you've reported this? Or just wanted to troll GMs in here? You are not helping this thread.

There is no custom rule that is being used. It's just a non-functional corpse timer mechanic. If I misunderstood what this meant, please link me what you're talking about.

All I see is the logical fallacy of not using a given tool to negate the issue.

Seriously.... /hidecorpse all and STFU. It's not like all of those corpses are killing the Ozone Layer or something.

Lol.. At least I'm advocating the game being harder and more accurately reflecting classic rules. Nobody needs a week to get a rez, if they really want one, and there's certainly no point in corpses remaining longer than that.. Unless the corpse is stuck in planes or something.

and that's good to hear, Nilbog. I didn't know it was a bug, but I never knew the whole story to begin with. I've only been here 3 or 4 months.

Corpse timers were different in Classic? Huh. I don't remember that. Well then, I concede my argument.

Corpses still do not cause global warming though. Just making sure, right?

The abundance of corpses adds strain to both the server and the user clients as they have extra data to process. This increases the power consumption, which is predominately provided by oil, coal, and natural gas, even more so in the United States than Europe. Those energy byproducts are belched straight towards the upper atmosphere where they destroy ozo.... er, whatever is being destroyed this decade.

This ecological disruption has caused so much ice in the himalayas to melt that there are torrential floodings in highly populated and impoverished portions of Tibet, China, and India.

You are drowning poor children with your damn corpses, jerk.

Yeah, corpse timers need to get fixed so I don't have to type /hidecorpse. Forget about plane of sky, kunark, velious, etc., I'll just sit in EC tunnel all day not typing hidecorpse and be happy.

If we don't find out what the exact numbers are, can the GM's PLEASE for the sake of difficulty implement an estimate of what those timers are? Especially for res timers (if I may hijack the thread a little) as those are 7 days long when they used to be a few hours back on live - this is causing people to gain 10 levels in a week and then res all of their corpses to gain 10 more levels at the rate of experience of their new levels.

Corpse timer for level 1-5 was 12 hours iirc, rez timer was 24 hours total for any body..

That's just the way i remember it.. i could be dead wrong

Lazor, it's not that they don't know the numbers (3 hours, I think, and 5 minutes for duels), it's that the coding is proving difficult.

Edit: that's rezzability, not decay timer. Not sure on decay timer.

Or GMs sit in the EC tunnel and see "Fatcock******'s corpse" and don't do anything about it.

Usually we, like players, have /hidecorpse on.

I however did see a corpse like this after the patch today, and promptly deleted it.

Corpse Spam is hilarious to me. Make an Ogre newbie and go check out the corpse spam on the way to the Feerrott Zone line. Good stuff.

Complaining about it is kind of silly. There are probably far worse things you could complain about.

Thank you, I did notice one in the EC tunnel was gone yesterday. There was still one by Freeport gates last I checked but it might be gone too.

Also, I understand completely that /hidecorpse is the "answer" and I use it. I have "/hidecorpse allbutgroup" on Hotbar 2 for cryin' out loud because I got tired of typing it. I don't know why some of the people on this thread act like it can't be discussed though without mocking us for "whining". We're discussing an aspect of the game, there's no harm in that. The only whining being done is by those who pretend it's some kind of taboo topic.

Ever since I knew the function existed - or when they put it into Classic EQ, I have had a hot button for that too.

Actually, it used to do a number of things, IIRC - I'd click it when I zoned or logged in. Maybe a /who all GUILD along with hide corpse, etc

So yeah... "/hidecorpse allbutgroup"

We do know the classic timers. Making them work right is a bit more of a task.

7 Day, offline
24 hour, online
2 hour, rez timer online

Corpse under level 6, 30 minutes.
Naked corpse, about 30 seconds.
Duel Corpse, 7 day offline, 24 hour online. 6.5 minute rez timer.

I miss anything?

If it's a coding issue then what I said can be disregarded - I was assuming that the only reason corpses were still like that was because the staff wasn't sure about the classic values.

I guess if those changes were implemented, lowbies restart with bread/milk automatically so that they wouldn't go hungry after losing their corpse in 30 minutes.

I thought /hidecorpse all hid mob corpses as well so it would be kind of dumb and annoying to continuously type or hotkey it.

Don't think it hid NPC corpses at all... but I can't say for positive, I just don't recall.

But I know any *new* corpses left after you issue the command - you will see. I just hit it once if there's a lot around, I don't keep hitting it.

Just once is enough if there are too many around. But my system now, can handle a ton of them around anyway, unlike the system I had back when I played EQLive.

Of course, I remember before that command was ever in the game.

But I do admit, in some cases, they can be good landmarks.

Naked corpse, about 30 seconds.

No way that can not be ... lets say i die whatever in lguk at frenzy, my IVU fades on the way down and i die again = impossible to recover in 30 sec ... did you also mean 30min?

Longer... it has to be, well over level 10 - let's say.

I don't know HOW many times I've been in groups or raids where there was a wipe and then 10 more bodies left per person as a result of trying to get the one with the gear.

30 seconds on naked ones - would mean a LOT of lost XP in those situations.

If you could just do it by zone it would make a big impact - the newb zones being 90% of the corpse population, lol

I think that line was also referring to newbie corpses. I'd certainly hope a higher-level naked corpse would have the regular timers for the CR purposes you just mentioned.

Naked PC corpses that have experience and are above level 30 will now last 3 hours instead of 3 minutes.

BRILLIANT! lol actually proving that those corpses ARE indeed depleting the ozone. ROFL nice.

Now, regarding FCN's corpse in the EC tunnel, I too found that offensive. And I'm not even "F" or an "N" but I do have a "C" And no i'm not trolling the GM's; I just assumed one of them would have seen it by now. Cuz FCN's huge corpse was unmistakable in the EC tunnel.
