Glad to hear it.

I personally insist on playing P99 in "Windowed" mode, so, the 640x480 resolution isn't really practical, since my native resolution is 1,400+ and it just ends up being a situation where I have to play P99 in a tiny ass window. Otherwise I would use this.

First up, thanks for working on this. At least I am not the only one who is a complete masochist when it comes to wanting classic windows.

- The effects button on the right hand side cannot be placed there properly without rendering the rest of the UI useless due to interface pieces not having the functionality to allow the user to click "through" transparent portions of the UI to click on the viewport. The bar on the left next to the spell bar is essentially the bar that pops up when you press alt+w, thus I'm sure you can understand why the "Effects"/buff button needs to be placed in that area like I'm demonstrating in my screenshot. Ultimately that's probably what's going to happen, but I feel that the thoughts of those who would be using it could help be beneficial.

I believe P99 has the ability to add custom windows on a per-need basis so it may be possible (via the injected DLL) to add in window elements that you would need. Your best bet would be using something like MQ2 (NOT ON P99 WITH THE DLL OF COURSE, YOU WILL BE BANNED) to test adding a new window similar to what MQ2 does with a button for effects, then submitting the MQ2 plugin to nilbog/rogean/kanras for review to add the window to the client. You'd want to just add a window that: 1) has a button that says effects and 2) loads from the UI folder and can be made transparent for standard UI use. MQ2 has the capability to add windows like this.

- The class icon on the front of the interface cannot be displayed (to my knowledge) without first opening the inventory because of the fact that it requires access to the class name to properly display that image. When in the inventory, you don't even see the icon...so what should I place there as an alternative to help fill in the interface? I'd assume you'd not want it to stay bugged as it is even though it's such a minor cosmetic issue.


You should be able to display that icon on any client window, it's simply a function or two that you'd need to hook to display it regardless of window state. (and possibly on another, static window as mentioned above).

- The persona area (front view image of player) to my knowledge also cannot be displayed, as I'd assume this is something EQ originally did using multiple rendering viewports back when that UI was the only interface available. I'm pretty sure that this cannot be accomplished via scripting and although I won't be able to render that, I'll still be able to replicate that area with a static image to fill in that portion of the UI and allow for click drag and drop equipping/inventory fill as it should.

Can anyone confirm if pet health bars were around during this time? I currently have them disabled but want to know if they were or not before I completely strip that code from the UI.

The entire pet window UI element not classic.

In classic, you had to type /pet report health to see how much HP your pet had.

I am anxiously awaiting this UI to be completed. For some reason I really loved it when I played back in 2000. Thank you for the time and effort you are putting into it Dualentity.
It will really feel like classic to me when I am using it again. :)

I don't know how I'd feel about having the UI forced on the community as I feel that it would crush the server population. I've already had quite a few people tell me to stop working on this UI because they fear that it will happen.

I laughed quite a bit at this. *bzzt*

On the other hand, to those of you who actually messed around with this project. If you could kindly report any major issues you encountered it would be of much assistance in the future. I'm not expecting many replies on this though other than cosmetic issues (tooting my own minotaur horn).

Stuff i've found so far:

•Can't turn on spellgem bar when playing a non caster.
•target healthbar flickers when the eq window isnt the active one
•inventory window randomly appears behind the rest of the ui elements
•inventory window unfinished
•item plates wrong era (wrong background and has the item icon)
•chat text too wide in window (overlaps bg element)
•class icon only appears after opening inventory and isnt always animated
•pet window, well, not classic. Since were actively trying to immerse ourselves using this ui, would it be possible to remove it from the ui?

I may just end up trying to teach myself how to do it on my own, got any ressource i could read and absorb?

Just fixing up some windows to make them as classic as I can. I need to get a hold of someone (probably a_gnoll_pup) in regards to getting some screenshots of some windows so I can rip textures.

Hey, just wanted to say thanks for what you're doing here. I do seem to be having problems getting the UI to work correctly. Even with my game resolution set to 640x480, the UI's windows either seem to be too small or are missing entirely. Actually, the layout of the UI is the same no matter what my in-game resolution is set to, with the most glaring error being that the left-hand PERSONA/class icon window is missing. I'm just wondering whether anyone's had this problem, or whether there's some obvious preparatory step I'm failing to take.

for those that dont want to play in full screen mode or little window for this UI, I have found a solution, make your desktop screen resolution as low as you possibly can and run P99 with this UI. if you want to back just make sure you write your old resolution down or remember it.... that is what i have been doing, Enjoy!

so, the character select screen part of the UI doesnt work on my computer ( it may work on other peoples ) there isnt an auto place in inventory, I believe it was origanally on the part where you can see your character, which is black on this UI, the spells icon doesnt work, other than that.... the UI is great :) i just wanted to tell you the stuff that was wrong..... keep up the good work :)

If there is any way you could make this larger after you have perfected the original, that would be excellent. I love the original skin, but having 1 chat bar, and it being dinky are my only 2 real complaints..

Perhaps one that has the same feel, but just adding a chat bar and allowing it in larger video sizes?

No. If you want a UI that scales or stretches then use Velious UI. This UI is specifically meant to be ran at 640x480, like it was always intended to do.

make it usable with my res and im in untill then im stuck with the other uis

making it work on a bigger res doesnt change its classicness just adjust to the screens that are out now it wasnt "meant" to be that size it was just the standard of the day

Not that I'm aware of. Don't believe there's a setting in the UI scripts to render a piece of it immovable.

Spent some time streaming and working on this the other day while camping an IBC for my warrior. Made quite a few updates which can be seen, discussed below. Updated download links are on the first post.

Besides what is available in the screenshots. I also made some pieces of the interface into smaller chunks to be better managed, locked and displayed. I updated the buttons on the give window to better represent how they looked originally, and am in the process of making the bottom right area of the main ui look how it used to.

The other big noticeable change is the fact that there are now two separate download links for the ui's. This was done to fix the black area that was in the melee ui where the spell gem bar would usually go. A non-functional spell gem bar was put in place on the melee version of the interface as should be.

I really like that the non casters have spellbars like in classic. and I guess it wasnt against the coding to have them locked :)

I don't think that's something controlled by the ui but rather something in the client itself. Will have to look into it to make sure though.

As for the netstat bar, theyre in different positions because when i use the classic ui I use the /viewport command to change the size of the visible screen. You can see the viewport size on the first post in this thread.

I'm going to change it to do that soon. Been meaning to, just haven't taken the time to do it. I rarely even use the auto-equip functionality so I just never felt the need to do it. xD

I auto equip quite often.

It has to unfortunately until I start doing some shady shit to get the UI elements to work properly in areas that they're not supposed to. That symbol is the reason that I forced the auto equip area off. It's the reason that you get your class animation icon displayed on the selector window. Nothing I can really do about it for the time being.

I see.... maybe you could stretch the symbol out to fill the whole black spot?

Nope, because changing it in any form would distort the graphic that displays on the selector window.

If you look closely, the amount of pixels rendered down to the right from the start of the black box is equal to that of where its positioned on the selector window. Thus if I expand it or move it in any way in the inventory then it would look all sorts of fucky on the selector window.

well.... crap ... I still love the project though :)

Okay, so, I am not exactly an idiot but maybe I am.

I can apply the UI and manually drag windows around and reload back and forth to try to line it up all nice... and then I have a big empty black box where the class window should be.

So... well...

Here is my thought and my additional confusion....

Since window locations are saved under your character TXT in your EQ directory... why can't someone please upload a default class txt file with the windows in the correct locations so it works right?

Am I missing something? I mean, I might be really wrong, but I sure would love someone to email me a character file with the windows lined up correctly and to know how to get the class window with the help button etc. to be visible.

Nevermind, primary problem was the layout staying the same had to uncheck the box that says to keep the same window layout. I think this is such a critical issue it should be added to the first post. a step by step guide should have that mentioned... maybe it does and i skipped it but i don't think so.

alt - W or ctrl - W will open the window and their is seperate UIs for casters and melee, casters have an actual spellbar and melee classes have an emulated spellbar :) and as for the character selection, that is in progress

I decided that the EQ Opening Theme playing at char select isn't enough...

I added the classic character select theme from a xmi file - which everyone here should have because it's included in titanium.

I doubt the 3rd person view will ever work. That function was completely removed from the Titanium client (https://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=117434).

question! - The regular spellbook has 16 spell slots on each page, and with this UI there is only 10 and it appears that the other 6 spells ( on each page ) are just gone from my book? not sure if this is a problem or im just dumb

I answered that in a different post that someone else made. I can't make that work without a 3rd party script which isn't super functional due to the fact that I have to keep track of basically everything the user does ingame to make sure there are no ui pieces in the way of certain buttons.

The reason it also does not innately work currently as well is because I have not found a way to make the button attached to the spell gem window to open the spell book from the selector window (the window that houses the inventory, options, help and other random buttons).

must not have saw that post... my bad.... any progress on the character creation screen?

That's something more or less that Secrets is working on. I'm currently working on a plugin for MQ2 to submit to the team for a more classic inspection menu, and fixing small things on the ui here and there as I feel like working on it instead of messing with C code.
cool, how exactly do you submit something to the team? I have been trying to talk to nilbog about having my classic sounds in the next patch :P

If anyone has the last working version of this it might be good to host it somewhere semi-permanent and hopefully someone will come along and pick up the project where it left off.

I'm probably going to finish it on the 640 x 480 then scale it up after I get a few of the totally borked pieces working.

There's a whole problem of the class icon animation only being renderable in the inventory windows, inside the autoequip area. It's really bizarre.

Clasically the class animation appeared on the main screen on the left, underneath the "Persona" window. While it still does, it only appears after looking in your inventory, since it has to render there first.

I only briefly saw this interface when EQ first came out. I had (still have it in a box) a Quantum 3d Obsidian X24 (2 voodoo 2's on a card) when it came out and I could run EQ at 1024x768 full screen with transparent windows. This interface didn't show up until for everyone until Velious but that is what was allowed with that card as I recall. So I barely remember this interface.

I know EQType 28 is Target name and EQType 29 is Target Hit Point Percentage..

There is a Current / Max Hit Point along with HP Current Label %s

Im wanting to know if there is one for the actual Target's Current / Maximum hit points?

Like if we were to target lets say "a rat" that may have a total of 17 hit points.. Is there a way of being able to re label the % into current / max hp?

Not quite classic - but its more "modern" classic that ive been working on - currently working on editing this to a 1920 resolution and adding the Combat Ability window to the bottom of what I am showing here.. and putting the target window above the HP current / max counter
