any1 else remember when we had a thread about this before during exp bonus and pop was just shy of 200 and then rogaine turned off exp bonus anyway and pop sank to ~110 at most within 2 days?

If we suffer a "valley" of population numbers because the devs were nice enough to grant us a few days of increased xp, I really wonder what that says about us.

Im thinking more people would roll a toon on Red P99 if they didnt have to start from scratch.
I played Warhammer Online for a year and ran pvp Volkavar Server as 40 RR 80 Slayer just cant see it much in EQ though seems like it was'nt really designed with PvP in mind when they created the game?
If someone could convince me otherwise I would perhaps roll a toon and load it up.

I just think it says about us that most people dont wanna play EQ with such a long hardcore grind just to start reaching the point where you can group and pvp regularly (AKA months before the game becomes fun).
I would, if wed get the numbers. But we wont, its obvious from the winter nerf we got that population shrinks alot when xp is cut.

I dont know, like i said i wouldnt give a fuck if xp was 1.0 and we had climbing numbers, but its not like that.

They enjoy the PVE side of the game primarily, us on red prefer the pvp side. You arent viable in pvp unless you are near max level.
Faster exp = closer to max level = better at pvp = more fun to be had by red player = ++population

With more population, it could also start at level 1 on red. Which is why xp bonus would be really helpful in building up a solid population.
Maybe cut it from 50+ but leave 300% for 1-50

Did they change it to allow you to sit at Char select screen now? guess I remember it kicking you off after a while of being idle.

In the long run exp bonus won't really save server. People are getting on and grinding hard because they know it is a limited window of boosted EXP.
If it was permanent server would dwindle undoubtedly. Just easier to PL alts and even more empty lowbie zones.

Might be only chance beside a wipe to get numbers up and have a lively box
Wed just have to experiment it to figure out
I think more and more people would join in as the numbers get better and better
Then id nerf the xp, but not before 4-500 pop, and putting in a group xp bonus that entices people to group with each other

I never played EQ to to grind levels. I hated that shit on Live. PvP and PVE in the big dungeons (and to some degree GUK) is what I enjoy. I am on of the new players on R99 (my highest level toon is 41 at the moment).
This xp boost is perfect for players like me who enjoy the pvp/gear up for pvp part of the game.

Because on blue a player doesn't have some scumbag like me draught them twice while lvling and force them on an hour CR.
Everyone I kill in T.deep or OOT has an hour boat ride as well as however long it takes them to get to a boat from their bind just to get back to lvling.
The server was at almost 200 pop last night it was a wonderland of pvp, I'd like that to stay, I even donated I was so happy!
I hope everyone else donates(even just a few bucks) to show how happy we are with a thriving pop!

There is nothing your ever gonna do that will stop players who cut out 18 hours a day to play a game NOTHING!
They don't need double exp for alts they are twinked as fuck and can run bard groups, but keeping double exp in lets low lvl players catch up in a descent time. So far we have seen double exp increase server pop exponentially and no evidence whatsoever that keeping it would discourage server pop in any way.
Sorry but I saw a ton of non twinked lower lvls out that were clearly not nihi alts since exp rate was increased. Plus I've seen 3 nihi twinks in fungi's lvling they were always red and yellow to me, I am not a twink and thx to double exp I was able to pass them in lvl.

It is sad that 200 is like woohoo when I'm used to having 2000 active players on Rallos and sullon to pk but fuck man it's a lot better than the normal 73 pop
But then again it's really sad that there are a 1000 players on blue that are essentially playing a rpg with friends, how much of a worthless coward do you have to be to fear dying to people in a video game!

a kick in the ass is better than a kick in the balls too, but i'd still rather have neither.

Enjoy the XP bonus while it lasts, I'm guessing nobody posting in this thread listened to Sirken's Twitch interview/Q&A?
Remember folks, thriving isn't allowed here. Take away the XP bonus, take away an incentive for new players to start. Somehow that doesn't compute with the admins. I'd understand if it was day 1, but it isn't.
You've got geared 60s running around, who enjoyed the XP bonus when they levelled... but new players from judgement day (whenever its due) have to start with a cracked staff/rusty weapon and aren't allowed the same luxury? Not fair, will kill the population again and prevents a strong second guild from emerging.
Red needs a superhero to keep the status quo...
