Have you ever wondered who the person behind that other character actually is? Ever wondered what kind of people frequent these forums/play on the server? Me too, so let's find out!

This is part 5 in a series of posts to help determine just what the P99 demographics look like. I think we may end up slightly surprised. I will attempt to do a couple of these at a time, so as not to spam up the forum

They're all pretty huge gaps.

It's amazing how terrible the poll options are.

I can only assume the OP is 12 year sold, as no one else would consider someone who makes $9,000 a year (less than 1/2 of the poverty line) and $35,000 a year (a lower middle class income) to be in the same category.. Nor $86,000 and $180,000, or would dedicate as many categories to the $200,000+ bracket.

Or OP makes a lot of $$ and is jaded about others' incomes and should maybe pay off my loans.

The poll needs to be redone....

Its like if the age poll had an option that stated 12-60.

Should really be more like

1-20k
21k-45k
46-70k
70-99k
100-200
200+

This is going to capture better data, in my opinion

You forgot to add disability as an option.

Should I have included the income I make from working the glory hole in the Flyin' J bathroom? If so I need to change from $1-$8000 to $1,000,000+.

That's pretty comical of you to say, since this loosely follows the exact same method and values the U.S. tax brackets do for single filers in 2013:

http://www.bankrate.com/finance/taxes/tax-brackets.aspx

I should clarify that I added the last 3 options to provide a better background of high income persons.

I've got a couple more years to go on my own! :(

Flying J is the funniest name ever for this hypothetical glory hole bathroom.

Except taxes are progressive. The tax bracket is how much you get taxed on that part of your income, not for your whole income and is thus not representative of proper 'buckets' for total income, at all.

Wow, 9 people so far claim to make a million bucks or more. Holly Cow. That's a lot of RMT lol.

I'd give up trying to be defensive about it, considering all your polls are damn near unanimously panned for how shitty the brackets/ranges are.

This isn't an exercise in tax collection, it's an attempt to display the demographics of a server. Lumping 70% of the respondents into one bracket makes sense with regard to taxation, but when you're trying to show meaningful information about server pop it's just retarded. You should listen to people.

I realize that this is mostly a troll attempt, but in-case anyone else was curious as to why tax brackets were chosen (it's pretty simple to understand really) over smaller "buckets" to better parse out the "70%" (it's not that high):

The purpose of this poll is to determine where players' incomes fall with respect to the U.S. tax bracket and then later compare that to the U.S. as a whole.

I have 0 interest in knowing how many people make between 40-50k vs 50-60k a year, or the poll options would reflect that. The ones chosen were chosen for a reason. If there is confusion surrounding that then I apologize. Hopefully this post clarifies any confusion.

If you do not care for the methodology, or you wish to know more about the "70%" I suggest creating your own poll!

See my previous post.. I'm not interested in knowing amounts of taxes paid, rather which upper bucket the majority fall into! :)

Yeah, that makes sense. I'd expect the average P99 player makes so much money that it's only logical to add so much granularity to the high income brackets.

Except that by bucketizing on the tax brackets what you are discovering is how much people get taxed on their income, and not really a granular representation of total income.
