I get an error stating: The instruction at 0x023 c6b referenced memory at 0x00000018. The memory could not be read. Click ok to terminate the program.
Anyone know how to fix this?

Hello I am getting the same error and found the solution in the FAQ but after I change the WindowedWidth=800
WindowedHeight=600
Width=800
Height=600
FullscreenBitsPerPixel=32
FullscreenRefreshRate=0
WidthWindowed=800
HeightWindowed=600
When I go to save it I get access denied. I am logged into my machine as the admin so I am not sure what I am doing incorrectly.

changing a .txt file in the directory can be a pain, even with Admin priv on Windows.
Save the .txt out to the desktop, then copy it over. It will ask for permission to replace and then you can. Can't save to directory, its protecting itself from... you... even with full permissions.
theres a way to fix but just do copy/paste after saving changed file to another directory

Depending on your version of windows, open up windows help and search for the term 'user account control' or 'UAC' turn that shit off and you should be able to save that file without issue.

Woooo!
I was able to finally save the file, I had to open notepad as the admin then copy over the eqclient.ini to the admin notepad and just save it that way. But not I am still unable to get the correct combo for the windownedWidth and height. Is that the only fix is to keep trying different windownedWidth and height? Because I've ran down the list on my screen resolutions and same error. :confused:
I think my laptop is currently set to 1366 × 768 (using windows 8).
I have tried the below settings and mixed them around with the 1366 x 768 and some other resolutions.
WindowedWidth=800
WindowedHeight=600
Width=800
Height=600
FullscreenBitsPerPixel=32
FullscreenRefreshRate=0
WidthWindowed=800
HeightWindowed=600

can't remember if you said you had tried using wineq or not.
Have u tried using wineq or not? if not, download that and give it a shot.
if you've already tried wineq, try changing the resolution on your desktop
1440x900 is pretty standard for laptops. give that a shot.

I have not tried wineq, not sure what that is.
I did try to change resolution a bit with no luck.
I can tell you that most of the issues I've run into with the game not starting properly stemmed from windowed mode not being set correctly in eqclient.ini. For starters, open that file in a text editor and see that you have lines that look like this:
WindowedMode=TRUE
WidthWindowed=1024
HeightWindowed=768
WindowedWidth=1024
WindowedHeight=768
If the height/width numbers are different, that's probably fine. Any resolution you want should work. I think all that matters is that both resolutions match, and that WindowedMode is set to true.
I have not tried wineq, not sure what that is.
