As seen in the Razdeline thread about buying some hardware to fix the DDOS problem.
It sounds good , but Sirken explained it in his stream that money could not solve the problem , or we would do that (hopefully a GM can comment and explain this better)
So if throwing money at the DOS will not work why not throw money at this cause...

If GM Ephi is down? example being...

If Ephi is serious about banning the RMT, is it possible he would let the community help out. An example being Platlord saling @ Platlord.com and community member A goes to the site, sets up an order and gets some plat, any amount.
He is working with GM Ephi so he tells him and if the character has enough plat say 250k+??* ban it.
and, If he is willing to do this, will he keep repeating this type of process Because **...
There is no way they could stay in business if this was done.
Player Sting Operation 101. Would take down the best of the best Chinese farmers.
If the ACTUAL players of p99 act like they want to buy, than the salers sell, and can get caught VERY EASILY.

**If he is open to this idea, you could reward illusion potions or something to the confidential informant or any reward you choose and you will get more players to join in and offer there IP to get the "platlords".

What does the community think the amount of plat the character should have before engage the ban, i said 250k+ would be a significant hit , unless these Platlords have a dupe or exploit. If the character has under the set amount use the Community member A to buy more plat (let him know how much to break that character) and find the next account etc.

If you do not want to take them down ,Than can we forget RMT ... and everyone focus on Velious or something else . Thanks.

If this lag business turns out to have been a failing server RAID a lot of you are going to look very foolish.

1) plat limit was just covered in another terrible thread. accounts are free to make --> limitless characters with plat under the limit.

2) this doesn't solve the (suspected) problem of someone duping high-end items and selling those to get said platinum back. also, if you look at a certain website, they offer to buy platinum from players only to sell it back at a higher coast (in lower denominations, etc.)

3) you would be directly funding terrorism

I considered that about 10-12 min ago and then came back to the fact that the DDoS / lag would start up at 6:00 - 6:30 pacific standard time every day for the last week straight. Same Eff'ing time.

Meanwhile, if you could make it to the 9:00 p.m. time frame (pacific) on, the server would be great for hours on end. I really doubt it was a failing RAID.

1) not saying put a plat limit on people, saying how much should the character saling the damned plat have before banned.

2) The suspected problem of duping could be going on but no proof, yet besides that DDOS attacks have been happening... the dupe is conspiracy MAYBE. When the people link the 8 AoN for sale they forget to mention 5 of the posts are the same damn guy over a short period so its the same AoN.

3) You would not fund shit u buy the plat burn the accounts associated with the plat. Paypal does not support in game currency trades you tell them you never received your package and you get your money back. E z

(1) you're talking about some sort of trigger which happens when someone tries to trade > 250k (example) in a trade window? solution: have 125k on two characters on two separate accounts, trade away.

(2) is it confirmed that it's the same AoN? even if it was, that is 4 separate AoNs for sale up in a very short amount of time. when has this happened before? too lazy to post book-long thread by tiggles explaining how few are available for trade on server, and how unlikely they are to be traded. too much of a coincidence w/ timing of lag spikes/ddos attacks.

(3) have you ever tried to deal with getting money back from paypal? also, how do you know sellers use paypal? regardless of it all, this would not fix the root problem

I'm aware of the pattern, but keep in mind that is prime time and you are speculating on the usage/issues/configuration of a server you have no access to.

In any case, we should know soon enough.

Some of us are always down for some EQ server related espionage. Maybe they just don't ask enough.

Could very easily be a scheduled server diagnostic that is causing issues due to hardware. Tho I'm 99% sure it's ddos as it got pointed at me last night for a short time.

1) I meant for a string operative to buy plat....Not a trigger, a informant buying plat once they buy it if that character thats saling has a bunch of plat than ban it , if not buy more until you find all those said account with 125k or whatever each. BAN ALL, what if they buy 500k your gonna use 5 chars at 100k each? prob not but if you do its still banning the damn platinum

2) Could be dupe yea

3) Never tried it personally but they say in policy doesnt support online game sales, and you can say it was a item you bought and it was never shipped and no proof of shipping so money comes back. It does have to be claimed in a certain time span though im sure. This plat sting would take out a lot of RMT not fix every problem and not Fix RMT but it will sure as hell put a big dent in it and if community joins everyone gets scared to sale dunno if its a spy etc.
