Hey folks,

Wife and I have been looking for something decent to play for a while; we both played EQ back in the day (although we never knew each other in those days!). Left EQ to play DAoC (met there :) ) and have been playing MMO's for more years than we care to remember. Pretty bored with the "new" MMO's as they all seem to be cookie cutter games that are rather "easy".

We still talk about the good old days and EQ which of course, brought me here.

Anyway, just wanted to get some feedback on the state of the game; are there still enough lower lvl players for us to find groups and have some fun? How's the community (one of the best things about the original EQ)?

It's been so damn long since either of us played EQ, not sure how it will sit these days!

Thanks in advance!

Yeah, there are tons of low level players. I love the community. The only downside is the server is currently having "lag" issues due to a DDOS attack that seems to hit randomly.. Supposedly it's not the first time this has happened, but hopefully it'll be ending soon. Other than that I love the server and the community. East Commonlands is just as I remember it with all the people in the tunnel.

Welcome!

Plenty of lower levels to group with. In fact, last night at midnight eastern there were 20 people in crushbone.

Welcome Boone! I am also a new player just a few days in. Do go by my join date as that is when I first looked into P99 :)

I see lots of low level players in GF so I do not expect you and your wife to have problems.

The community is fantastic until you get to the raid scene. Even high level grouping is pretty decent and civil. Groups can be found at all levels, but a duo can level as fast (if not faster). /jelly, wish I could convince the wife to play.

Be sure to apply for an IP exemption. The server doesn't allow multi boxing and blocks it by allowing only 1 connection per ip by default. The sooner you get the request put in the sooner you can both play (assuming you are on the same connection).

Welcome, and don't give comments like this too much credit. The raid scene isn't all doom and gloom. LOL

Find some people you like and raid with them for good times. :)

not fantastic != doom and gloom. But the leveling scene is more fun than the raid scene for most on this server.

Thanks folks!

Ahh yes, the EC Tunnel. How many Sunday afternoons did I sit there :p

We'll probably end up playing the classic Cleric/Warrior combo although she likes to be the tank no matter what class she plays lol

Thanks for the reminder about the IP exception, I had read that in the FAQ and it slipped my mind. Just gotta find the game now...

This is spam and completely unrelated to the above post in anyway whatsoever.
And now for some random images:

I won't comment on the raid scene since I've only been 55+ for a short amount of time on the server. Even if it's really bad, leveling up to that point is fun I think, and you won't get to the raid scene for a couple months at least most likely. Getting groups on here is probably as easy as it was on live. The difference is that on live a lot of low level zones had so many people there wasn't much to kill. On this server the population is smaller and top heavy (55 +) and most people congregate toward the ideal leveling zones, so there are usually fewer groups, especially in far off or less ideal leveling zones. You should have no problem finding groups, but there will be a fair amount of soloers out there. You will even see soloers from classes that are not ideal for soloing due to twinking (courtesy the amount of time we've been in the kunark timeline.)

I would get that exemption petition in ASAP as they do them in bunches and not necessarily that often. Hope you enjoy your time on the server.

How can this game survive without a raid finder button!? If EQ Next doesn't have that, I don't know what I'll do until the next WoW expansion!

Naw naw.
