View Full Version : NPC Spawn Issue: Quillmane cycle changed or broken

Was trying to spawn Quillmane due to the usual cycle today but it's completely different now... was something changed? It seems that the triggers are not spawning like they were before.

Also some of the elephant calfs are spawning underground.

Aye, can confirm this needs to be looked at.

That giant summoned hammer looking thing is back floating there where the PH/Trigger should be, Static spawns of PH/Triggers aren't popping in the same spot every 28/whatever seconds. (I understand they pop and roam instantly, but they aren't spawning in the same spot, lol)

Also can confirm PH/Trigger spawning underground sometimes. I see an elephant calf come up on track, leads me to a hill by KFC, says straight ahead up the hill, go up the hill, says calf is behind me, i turn around and it says it's ahead of me and then it pops out of the hill??

One of the placeholders was always spawning in the same location. I was looking into it at the time and determined that was error which I failed to post in the changelog while testing.

I just confirmed they both do spawn, and path. All that changed with the patch was ensuring random spawn location of the placeholders.

This whole script needs to be redone; it will be at some point.

Soo guess I will keep DA'ing off cliffs since this is going to make the cloak a pain to farm =P

So your saying that the calf that should spawn where we placed the floating hammer yesterday is now a random spawn? Now might be the time to take the work and use the actual Live mechanics for spawning quillmane then screwing with the fake way here. Between this and the track nerf cloaks should be going for 15k now.

Ya, cause ranger track just shows and sorts the 20 closest mobs, it doesn't matter that I can track a large area. I wish it would track the whole area, sort those, then provide the top twenty after truncation.

tracks the top 20 newest mobs, not the closest.

I saw your link in another thread you posted after this comment. Needs evidence like anything else. I suppose someone could fraps exactly how its done, and PM me. Or, collaborate on a method from research.

I might have stopped playing live before it was well known on my server as how to spawn quillmane, if it ever was? I do know Pegasus Cloak MQs for magician epics were 50k when I was camping mine.

I can confirm that at least on EQmac the linked guide is the way to spawn Quillmane.

BLACK - Typical Quillmane spawn area (78 second cycle). From my experience, PH's for Quillmane always pop south of Paw with many of the PH's popping towards the west wall. Other PH's can pop to the south or east but if many are popping near the west part of the zone and south of Paw, you are probably on the Quillmane cycle. Quillmane's PH's typically path north once they start roaming. When an elephant spawns on this cycle, it is always "an elephant" and no other type of elephant. Expect lots of lions and lionesses on this cycle. Quillmane does not drop the cloak every time he spawns.PH pops SW of Paw? Not zonewide? Whew.

I never farmed Quillmane during classic/kunark/velious era but this is 100% spot on for when I farmed lots of cloaks on the Sleeper.

Even with sortable ranger track? I need to do some experimentation but I think (not sure at all, just cursory observations) that only the first, closest, twenty mobs are sorted. But I was doing it right after repop and everything would have spawned at the same time then... Hrm. Well then. Experimentation required.

technically we shouldnt even be able to sort if you look at patch messages. but i think what its doing is taking the last 20 mobs that spawn and then you can sort though but it wont change your result when changed to distance.

So whats in question here exactly? having spawned multiple quillmane's here on sleeper on live on eqmac im confused as what the problem is and why anything needed to be changed here? are you saying the wandering elephant calf and the wandering lioness is not classic ?

Stumbled upon this link when doing some google searches on Quillmane. They seem to think this coding gets him closer to his live spawn cycle.

Was just lead to this thread. Been bonesawing lioness and calfs for 2 hours with a buddy ranger. No quillmane. Wish I would of seen this sooner! Will pass on the broken news.
