So this happens to me at least a few times time every hour. It's mega annoying especially because i am a mage and that means i have to resummon epic, weapons, and haste my pet again. Or i log back in to spawns i can't handle w/ out a pet up. People in my group say it seems like i camped, i am just running along and then BOOM immediately logged out. Does anyone else have this problem? Are there any solution? I am getting so paranoid to the point i feel like a GM just randomly thinks it's funny to boot me or something lol....PLEASE HELP! this is driving me crazy!!

Old laptop/computer? Windows 8?
If you've got any friends that play EQ have you tried logging in from their computer at their house?
Could be a connection issue, could be a computer issue, Windows 8 is just an issue for everyone...

I play on a 2012 MacBook Pro. Guess it could be a thing with wine, but the fact it kicks me to char select and i get no LD msg, just a boot right to chat select is what makes me think it is not an issue on my end. In all oft years playing EQ, on emu servers and live I've never been booted to char select unless it was by a GM. Also I played for nearly a year on my 2009 Mac and never once had an issue.

I have this exact same problem but happens less frequently. 2012 MacBook Air. I'm guessing it could very well be a wine issue? Also an Internet issue since it seems to happen less frequently on my home wifi than office wifi which is considerably laggier.
I've also noticed that there's a slight rollback effect sometimes when this happens. If I'm kicked to char select in the middle of a fight.. Say if I was root rotting.. When I click back in I might find myself with a lot more mana than before the d/c. Mostly I come back in exactly where I left..

Have you guys tried using a different emulator for windows?
i don't own a mac and never have, so this may be outside my power to help but that'd be the first thing I'd do.

I tend to suspect Wine. I play on Macs and use Parallels without the issue mentioned. Have you tried asking around in the Wine forums? Another possibility is to grab the leased version of Wine etc. Might resolve the issues experienced.

This still happens, but not frequently to move my lazy self into trying to run eq on my mac any other way.
However, I'm concerned that the disconnects might be from the way wineskin is interacting with the server's cheat detection or w/e kind of stuff they have going? Is it possible wineskin is setting off a false positive or w/e it's called and booting players?

Wine will not affect cheat detection in any way, this is confirmed. Nor will any other Windows emulator, for that matter.
This is what I would do to isolate the issue:
Try running EQ off another internet connection, doesn't matter if its a friends or the library, just find out if you can connect without dropping and play on your account without issue from a completely different internet connection.
Next, try running eq from the same connection, but a d ifferent computer. Borrow one from a friend or something, doesn't matter much considering everything should be able to play EQ
Finally, use a different emulator.
Post your results here. It will help to isolate the problem, and may even solve it. thanks and good luck! I *will* be checking this thred again, so if anyone runs some tests an post results, I will see it and we will get this figured out.
