So I'm at lvl 12 right now, I have I think 2 pieces of nice gear some nice people came and gave me in Steamfont, and I'm just barely scraping by with buying my spells (I don't think I'll have enough for my lvl 16 spells, lol!), and having lots of fun nuking mobs.
So I'm in steamfont, killing stuff near the lfay zone line, when I get a message in /shout...
"What level are you?"
"lowbie" was my reply, "you?" No answer from him. I was immediately worried he was hunting for little ones like myself, poor defenseless gnomes with little pvp experience and shit gear (wearing mostly cloth >_<).
Shortly afterwards, a young dwarf warrior entered the zone. He was level 13 (so was the gnome mage that was in the zone, as I soon found out), and as he zoned in from Lfay he spotted me and stopped, as did I. I was a little injured, but what scared me most was having no mana to combat this fierce opponent. We froze and stared at each other for a minute, and then i started slowly backing away, hoping not to provoke him. Finally he sent me a message, "Greetings, gnomish brother. I wish to travel safely through your gnomish homeland, may I be granted safe passage?" I grinned IRL. I love these kinds of roleplay interactions, and this was the first one I'd seen on P99.
"Aye, master dwarf, you'll have no trouble from me nor from my brethren. I am not sure about that one though." Referencing the other player in the zone, "I've had no contact with him since I arrived here"
"I'll be wary of him, then. Thank you, cousin of brell." I have to admit, I was having fun with this dwarf. Global OOC scrolled by for quite some time, before I received another tell.
"Help cousin! I'm under attack! Near the minotaurs, I was attacked from behind!" I had to help my fellow short one, and I rushed off to go help him. He continued to send me tells, each one more desperate than the last. The little menace was a mage, and his earth pet was keeping my cousin rooted. I tried my best to get there as quickly as I could, with only half mana, and when i arrived on the scene it was grim indeed. My dwarf aquaintence was near death, the earth pet having torn him apart
"He's behind me! on the mountain!" His hp was extremely low, and the mage was at full health. And when I finally spotted the mage.... He was a gnome! I almost wasn't able to fire upon my own kind... but my new friend was in trouble, and he needed me. I fired off a couple nukes, and they landed flush... unfortunately at this point, I was only level 10, and my spells barely chipped away at his hp (he was clearly buffed). My dwarf friend went down, hard, and I was unable to get away from the little mage's pet... he finished me with a nuke.
Our corpse recovery was simple, as the gnome mage had dropped out. We met up again, shook each others hands, and went our separate was, promising to watch each others backs while we leveled.
Even though I died, it was an awesome experience! I'm hoping to have many more, and maybe even a few kills, in the future.
What was your first PvP experience? Was it good? Did you win, or did some super twinked alt come wipe you the fuck out? Share below so we can hear about losing YOUR virginity!
And, if you liked this story, please let me know and I'll share others in the future. I'll also add some additional flair and make it more like a story (I'm a writer irl) so its more fun/interesting to read. Lastly, if you liked this story a LOT feel free to donate a few pp to my little gnome so a starving writer/wiz can buy his spells! I'm still missing my level 12 aoe nukes!
