You may now use the new Velious UI! It is vastly improved from the last version.

I had mentioned some of the features in the coming soon (http://www.project1999.org/forums/showthread.php?t=10873) post.

The spells_us.txt file has also been overhauled. The alignment of the gems has changed, so modders, the spells_us.txt is being released in advance.

These files have replaced the old links in the Setup Guide (http://www.project1999.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2651) thread.

You will need the following files:

Http://www.project1999.org/files/eqchangesv2.zip (http://www.project1999.org/forums/../files/eqchangesv2.zip)

http://www.project1999.org/files/veliousuiv3.zip (http://www.project1999.org/forums/../files/veliousuiv3.zip)

Many thanks again to Savok. I believe he has premade custom sets of some of the UI available and he will be releasing them soon.

Enjoy!

thank you!

It may be me, but the graphic/gem pictures are all funky on this ui though.

For example, the SoW buff button is a disease skull image.

is it just me?

So i replace all the files that you say i need, the eqchanges spells and the velious changes into the prospective folders. Yet, i cannot get to my character screen now. I get booted back to the log in area where i have to enter my password every time.

You need to replace the spells file, possibly while not logged into the game. Logging out and doing the file replacements fixed it for me.

I was using the old velious UI from these forums, which all in all I actually like better than this. The main reason? It didn't have the shiny grey texture for buttons.

This is what the buttons looked like on live

This is what they look like here
http://img576.imageshack.us/img576/520/eq002683.png

Unfortunately this texture also affects the character select screen, so instead of the classic button texture for characters, everything looks borked. Is there a fix for this?

okies, so if you're missing a hotbar wnd, just past the hotbarwnd xml file from previous ui into that new folder, and this should correct it, PLZ BACK UP ALL FILES!
also- i'm trying to do a work around on the CastSpellWnd - which is actually your spell gem window (spell bar) i had a nice small one previously and it had a nice lil context button for loading previously saved spells, tho i'm having trouble getting it to work, any ideas?

Perhaps one change id like on the UI is the ability to Invite/disband on the party window?

And the Mana 0/0 in the inventory

Hello, one and all!

Hopefully by now you have downloaded the new UI files and various changes via Zordana's excellent EQEmuLauncher (http://moestaverne.com/main/) and have the new spell layout. For those of you that have custom UI files you will need to update your gemiconXX and spellXX tga files. I will include a standard square version for those who have those sort of mods that you can download >>>HERE<<< (http://home.comcast.net/~savok/project99/classic_square_icons.zip) - these are basic but will see you through until your UI is updated.

For those of you that would like a few more modern Velious options (%, additional stats, etc, etc), you can download the extra zip from >>>HERE<<< (http://home.comcast.net/~savok/project99/veliousui_extras.zip). Just copy whichever file you want to your default folder, or better still into a new UI folder and use /loadskin to preserve the default.

The extras includes:

Selector window
Hotbars 2, 3 and 4 as well as the standard 1
Quick link keys on Hotbar 1
LFG, invite and disband keys in the group window
% for group members in group window
% for hp/mana/end and a breath bar in player window
cast window built into the target window
More stats in the inventory window
Many other small changes

spell bar showing a spell slot 9 when you press alt? go into equi_CastSpellWnd.xml and remove the line < Pieces>CSPW_Spell8< /Pieces > from the bottom, also find the area with this: < SpellGem item=" CSPW_Spell8 " >

remove that all the way to the < /SpellGem >

in this case, spells are determined from 0 - 8, that would be 9 spells, which is why 8 is showing up as 9, so remove the spell 8 section, and that will correct your problem if you're seeing spell slot 9 when you press alt

Do NOT delete the CSPW_Spell8 or you will start to get XML error reference again. I added a -5000 X and Y location to the 9th spell gem slot so it no longer shows. I fixed the file in the zip below and will have it pushed to the veliousv2.zip on the main website.

FYI the velious UI link is wrong on the homepage.

It links to: http://www.project1999.org/files/veliousuiv2.zip

It should be:

Most of the other problems people are complaining about are because they forgot to do /loadskin Velious

one question: seems to be the target window and spell casting progress window are the same window in your UI.

Is that intentional? Seems odd to me.

the target window should be movable.

maybe you have it placed on top of the spell casting bar?

Yes the extras has the casting window IN the target window. Delete the EQUI_CastingWnd.xml from the extras download (or replace with the default) and it will be a free floating option again.

If you choose not to use the velious ui, the default files you need have been redone.

Follow this portion of the setup guide:

Navigate to the uifiles\default folder within your Everquest Directory and copy the files from the following zip into it:
Http://www.project1999.org/files/uichangesv2.zip (http://www.project1999.org/forums/../files/uichangesv2.zip)

So just to clarify, are any of these changes necessary if I am using the default interface (Titanium client)?

Do I just need to update the spell file (or is that also for people who are using custom UIs)?

Everyone (eventually) will have to update their spells_us.txt file (it contains all of the spell info thats displayed). How that info is displayed in the UI depends on your UI. The Velious UI will have rectangular icons and cannot be used on other 'square' icon UI mods.

So basically yes you have to update with the uichanges.zip if you use default.

Alright, let's suppose I want to be able to just have the lastest spellfile but not change anything else.

This means, leave the icons looking the way they did, leaving the UI the way it was (1 row of 8 instead of 2 rows of 4) etc,

Is this possible to do? Or are we basically forced to change our spell icons and user interface? Personally I'm just not digging the was the changes look and I'm a huge proponent of "if it's isn't broken, don't fix it".

The icons attached to spells is down to the spells_us.txt file and should be reported in the bugs section. For hotbars 2 - 4 you need to set macro keys in the options window, or use the EQ button to open them.

So it seems a lot of people don't like the bigger rectangle icons, so I'm going to make a version with smaller square icons that should also work with the filigree and default_old ui's. More to report back later today...

The only thing you have to update is the gemiconXX and spellsXX tga files, or the spells_us.txt file will pick out the wrong gem icon. I put up a basic version of the square buttons here (http://home.comcast.net/~savok/project99/classic_buffs.zip) that you can use as a template for your UI. You could release your UI with this template set until such time as you re order you gem icons.

The spell gems needed to change, period. They were only tied to 30 options and looked terrible. Now you have 150ish gem #s. The spells_us.txt will be mandatory to see the correct gem alignment. Like I said in its announcement, this allows for more customization, so you can find/make whatever you want.

Simply put.. theres an icon number in spells_us.txt. Says gem should look like #. # in your gem icons is what it will look like.

Yep I know what you're talking about. Wasn't there an issue with the text displaying white instead of black? That's my only issue with the white hotbuttons, that makes for white on white. You should be able to use the .xml pieces of different UIs together, without having to do too much work. Maybe someone knows the specifics of what is needed.

OK so I went back today and completely redid the default UI for both versions (filigree and the default_old)

I don't know which version the devs will want as their default UI and I know some of you prefer one style over the other so I'll release both versions along with the corresponding ui changes.

1. Default. This is the version with the filigree and the blue style borders etc.

Complete UI download from fresh Titanium install: Zip Download (http://home.comcast.net/~savok/project99/default.zip)

Change file to make the UI Project1999 compliant: Zip Download (http://home.comcast.net/~savok/project99/default_uichanges.zip)

http://home.comcast.net/~savok/project99/default.jpg

2. Old default. This is the version with the older style grey mottled background.

Complete UI download from fresh Titanium install: Zip Download (http://home.comcast.net/~savok/project99/default_old.zip)

Change file to make the UI Project1999 compliant: Zip Download (http://home.comcast.net/~savok/project99/default_old_uichanges.zip)

http://home.comcast.net/~savok/project99/default_old.jpg

----------------

Whichever option you choose, I would suggest a fresh /uifiles/default do-over. IE whatever your current version of 'default' is change it to default_prejuly or something and then download the above files into a new 'default' folder. As you can see from above the UI's do work, and with the new style icons and spells_us.txt

Thanks this fixed the problem with hot bars 2,3,4 being gone, and they look right now.

Alright, I will give this another shot but the spell gem art looked mad blurry and the colors were like straight out of a neon colored crayons the last time I tried this. It was very rough on the eyes.

Hopefully I can get the single row of 10 hotkeys working, the 2 rows of 4 don't work very well with the way I set up my windows. (I am going to try the above post).

Honestly, I was quite used to the limited spell gems after 8+ months.

Clear instructions:

1. Go to your Everquest\uifiles folder and rename the default to say oldbackup.

2. Download the FIRST zip file depending on which style you want (filigree/fancy or default_old. Make a folder in evequest\uifiles\ called default and unzip this file into that folder.

3. Download the SECOND uichanges zip file and unzip into the same new Everquest\uifiles\default folder and overwrite all files.

4. Load Everquest.

------

If you wish to use the Velious UI, after doing the above make a folder called Everquest\uifiles\velious and unzip the velious Ui into that folder. In game type /loadskin velious to lodd the velious UI. This keeps your default UI and allows you to choose if you want to use either type.

For the standard filigree or default_old I am working on a couple more sets of spell icons (Luclin era and the classic classic [like the velious ones]) that will work with any square based icon UI. So you will download the uichanges.zip for the type of UI you like and then overwrite the basic icons with your personal preference.

Lots of choices for you.

I know this version works, just unzip to your velious folder.

Hey guys, I had a problem where I liked the new Velious UI, but wanted the 10x1 horizontal bars instead of the vertical one. I also have 2 action bars, not one, so this was also a problem. My remedy was to simply copy the Default EQUI_HotButtonWnd file into my Velious UI file and it works just fine now.

The Animations file calls the spell icons sizes differently for Velious and for the standard UI. You may find some spells don't show correctly and are stretched/squished.

Could I have a screenshot or two so we can get a better idea of what these look like? Sorry I'm starting to get confused by all the different sets of icons and types of hotkey bars...

I just have to finish off the default_old icons and then I'll start a new post with all of the options and links with pictures.
