Hey, first post on these forums, although I have been playing on p99 for about a month now over on blue server. I am OG Rallos Zek player who started in 2000, and played for prolly 4ish years on Zek after merger. My main was a Halfling Druid named Moogaman, if any of you remember me.
Introductions aside, I was just looking for general input on a class to role on red. I'm assuming a solo class would be my best choice due to low pop. making it difficult to find groups sometimes. Also what is the Red server lacking class wise?
Any input appreciated, cheers!

make a mage/wizard/rogue and thank me later
earth/epic pet root/stun lands all the time, regardless of your MR
targeted AoE spells such as rains and wizard pillar line have no range check at the end of cast
nukes are pretty much never partial'd unless their respective resist is 150ish+, impossible for nukes to be 100% resisted
rogue backstab is insane here, not uncommon to see double 1100s with epic and duelist
rogue poisons land way more than they should, including the blind poisons that last several minutes
skean proc lands almost every time unless they have 120+ poison resist and it lasts 18 seconds every time

druid is the easiest to solo up. good all around, able to quad, and got ports.
there is a newb guild trying to get new players and form groups, but I imagine it's still hard to find ppl your level and actually get to them.
you can manage to solo on most classes with spells if you find the right way to play them. server doesnt have many enchanters, pallies, necros, bards (who actually play at the high end), rangers, or warriors.

Clerics and chanters are the most loved on the box, not that good in pvp, above classes best.
Sham necro viable tho just like on live. No pallies

Play your fave class and have a good time. Get into it. Don't think of the optimum class, think of your favorite. Don't make alts. Make yer hearts content and love it.

Ok thanks for replies. My favorite class is probably a druid, but that's because that's what I played. I'm trying for a different expierence this time around. I think mage is probably what I am going to role...still trying to convince my brother to play with me tho b4 I role red because I want both us to level up together.

If you're leveling with your brother, one of you could make a difficult to level melee class.

If yer used to a druid..maybe do a shaman. Lots of similar utility + more...just without teleports. I personally couldn't handle mage lack of utility (no root) at higher levels..though for grinding they rule.
Also just be a pro and make barbarian rogue for brother. Lots of reasons to do it.

Can half elven rogues worship Rodcet? That would be a very cool rogue imo.

Yeah I was thinking hard about roleing a shaman when I started on blue, ended up going with monk (not sure why).
I read a post recently breaking down just how much better shamans are than druids in group situations (Slow/Haste/Own line buffs/Canni). Really got me wanting to role a shaman again. If I do get my brother to play I prolly will go shm, but in that case would something like Rogue actually go all that well? I mean...rogue be tank...No b/s =(. Something like warrior/monk prolly be better huh? Any thoughts for a fun shm combo?

Ah hadn't really thought of that. Shamans have reliable way to hold aggro?

yeah slow should grab it for a while, could root it and have tank stand closest, im sure some other diseases and whatnot are probably good too
shm+melee one of the best combos
clr+sk still the best tho imo

Just my opinion, but the shm class was the funnest class I have played in EQ thus far. As for agro, if you hit the mob with a slow and stats debuff (cripple line) you should have no issues holding agro. That being said, holding agro is one thing, surviving is another. A shm that wants to tank, just like any tanking class, is heavily gear dependent.

Ok well shm/rog sounding pretty good in my book. And Tomato, not sure what you mean exactly. Do I want gear in eq? Hell Yeah, of course. Isn't this a game about leveling up, making friends, and collecting cool shiny things?
