What is the proper way to go about reporting abuse of the ooc channel? I've /reported a couple times, but I have no idea if that command even works here, and if it does it's limited to 20 lines of text. I'd be more than happy to post screenshots in the petition forum, if it helps to clean up this garbage any.

/ooc should be reserved for LFG, auctions, silly chatroom stuff, and pvp trashtalk. Not for desperate attention whores :mad:

Warfare is not just physical but psychology as well.

Goading, trash-talk, and verbal abuse can be used for various tactics of mental attrition.

The game features both badword filter and ignore feature for player's who cannot handle the strain of such assaults. I can see why player's like Bazia or Gloinzz would be against such stratagems as they are too dull witted to ever poise a threat with any form of rhetoric.

But this is a pvp server, and it's oldschool, this is aint 2013 with your anti bullying rules it's 1999 where kid's go home with black eyes.

Most of the people spamming in OOC must certainly realize they are responsible for people choosing not to play red?

It makes the server look like a bunch of uneducated morons. (I've actually met many decent people on red, but they aren't spamming OOC obviously)

I'm for everything classic class balance, resist system, item loot, etc. Ya damned right I refuse to play a class that was altered that far from it's original state from 1999 to the point where they are forced to rely on song that was never even mem'd in classic EQ. But yeah. Your gradeschool ooc banter is a turn off, and I think it's bad for the population. It's a tiny minority of people abusing their ooc privileges, and to take away ooc because of them would be a shame. But those few people hurt the population, just like taking global ooc out of the game would.

My grudge is this typically american way of looking at things, which is fortunatly not shared by all americans. It goes like this: Little Jimmy plays a game where he has to violently kill 50,000 human looking characters to advance in levels. Parents / rating agency are fine with this. Then some foul, dangerous to children monster types "fuck" in a chat channel that Little Jimmy can see. Obviously this will mentally scar Little Jimmy forever and something must be done about this foul person.

And theres a psychological element to games, they are right. Now as to how this is done, i may or may not agree, but its not a ridiculous concept.

Engineers in Warhammer were so op that i did battlegrounds naked, without any armor and led the front line to the other team. After a while and people started to recognize me, i could stand 10 feet in front of my team, alone, and make 10-15 players back away from me.

Thats mainly psychological effect from a naked player not being afraid of 10 players and them knowing they will probably die if they try me, I could have done the same with armor on, but being naked was the psychological warfare part.

And yeah, I can't say I'm a fan of the way yer trying to talk down on me because we don't share an opinion. I'm an RZ player and I think grief is the most beautiful aspect of this game and not because I'm a masochist. It just makes the stakes higher. But OOC has been dumb for a while, half of the people that say something in there just get verbally assaulted by a few buddies pretending to heart PVP while pharming plat somewheres.

Possibly a lack of global OOC might have us develop a common trading post and make a more centralized trading area where the local OOC can be madness and pvp is rampant with guards racking up more kills than anyone else, assuming NPC aggro gets worked on.

Sorry dude. a PVP server doesn't mean everyone is a player killer at all times. A great skill based straight PVP Game that you may not play is street fighter 4 arcade edition. Another good one is call of duty. Those are fun pvp games but lack EQ's exciting variety. They are really well balanced tho...

I enjoy global OOC I was almost goaded into an ambush yesterday when one Nihilum asked me to fight 1v1 over and over again only for me to engage and 5 more Nihi poor out of KC and nearly kill me. See psychological warfare working! When we have a server pop of 500+ and I have 10-20 people per zone to insult and make them feel bad about themselves in RL I'll be for OOC removal.

To me it would make a lot more sense for players to raise the issue that we're censored for talking about the RMT that happens, or questioning GM/admin decisions. No one's telling you that you can't say whatever you want in guild, group, tells or whatever. It's just the public channels that were intended for purposes other than PENIS. And for better or for worse, we do have people that decide what is and what isn't okay to censor: the people who own and manage this webspace. What do they have to say on the matter?

We understand that tensions can become heated, especially on the PvP Server, but this does not make it acceptable to be rude or cuss other players out in these channels. We should have /ooc muters and you should need to be awesome period to get away with shenanigans. I only want smedyquest quality /ooc. Infact you should have to earn the right to /ooc trashtalk or troll.

The bar is set so low here its ridiculous. Make the mutes last 30 mins. This way the muter has to stay logged in to keep the other person muted. Think of the new chat pvp dynamics. I'm willing to compromise. I like /ooc for general purpose and the occasional witty quip. I can handle the million pensises and fecalizations. But I like to promote quality content. I will do anything I can to get there.

***Additionally when someone is muted there should be some random funny text letting everyone know the muted got owned by a mod and which mod, so mods can engage in epeenery and popularity or infamy contests.

Thats reason enough for mods in /ooc for me. The other reason is you can /ignore all you want yet /ooc blooms with all the people crying who cant bother to type the command anyway, I seriously don't need 80% of the server on ignore. Just for quality /ooc. If I could ignore /ooc only and keep tells/guild/party open that'd be fine... I could still communicate with those players for groups etc and they could have their private little global chat.

Or heck just implement .channels and remove ooc all together.

This. And not because global ooc sucks, in fact it's great. It sucks that so many people don't know how to type /tell and can only reach the /ooc keys.

It's lame to have 1/2 of the entire server on ignore. Most people aren't annoyed with bad words, so there's no need for the bad word filter, it's just the quantity and maturity level with which these words are being repeatedly spammed.
