The newest trailer looks even more amazing then the first few.

I can't wait to see giant robots beating the crap out of and being beaten the crap out of by Cthulhu-like monsters/Kaiju.

I'd say this is the summer blockbuster we needed but Into Darkness already took that trophy. Great summer for grand-scale movies this year. :D

Reviews are starting to pour in. 81% with the few negative reviews being posted by mainstreamtards who for some reason don't understand the mecha genre existed before the 90's and keep making obtuse comparisons between this and Evangelion/Transformers.

I hope it's mostly mindless action with little to no story. :D

from what ive seen it must have 0 story, and what story is there has to be pure crap.

Giant robots fighting aliens looks awesome though and the action will be cool.

waiting for it to hit netflix

Great! If you go see this kind of movie looking for a story you're doing it wrong IMO. I prefer all action no plot on something like this!

haha exactly! I just can't justify paying a minimum of $10 to watch something and walk out saying "that was cool, lets go get tacos"

What's the point of seeing a movie in the theaters if not for the sound/visual effects?

The story of a movie doesn't change if you see it at the theater as opposed to on DVD.

One of us knows how to get our money's worth out of visiting a movie theater. ;)

Hah oh man, you must be trolling. Sometimes people want a good ol' kick ass movie that is just fast paced action start to finish. Last thing I want to see in a movie like this is some lame relationship moments that pass for story nowadays.

There's a ton of movies to watch if you're looking for a good story. Go watch one of those, I'll be watching shit blow up.

ha good point!

it just chaps my ass, if i want to watch a kickass action movie with no story i dont have to pay attention to i want to sit back with a few friend a brew and a blunt and be able to scream " OH SHIT DID YOU SEE THAT!?!?!"

In the theater I try not to be an obnoxious ass.

^ this.

What the fuck do you want "Shawshank Redemption" to be every movie in the theater? I got to the movies to see loud explosions and cool special effects. I'll save the Academy-Award winners for watching in my nice comfortable home.

Wait so they build giant robots but don't build giant guns to give them? Stupid.

Actually they do, one of them even has several types of plasma launchers (it's the future mang). Melee weapons as well.

I'm normally one of those people who will absolutely pick apart inconsistencies and shitty movie science, but I didn't care here.

This movie delivered, and I almost passed out from all the blood rushing to my nerd boner.

Which was the point. It was a fun action flick, and a step above the normal fare (Transformers, GI Joe, etc.) with some good performances (Idris Elba) and some fun ones (Charlie Day, Ron Perlman). What more do you want for $10 on a weekend for 2 hours of fun escapism? Not everything needs to be "realistic" and "gritty" and drive home a point about the human condition ya know.

Oh, I absolutely agree. I'm just saying that it was so much fun that I forgot to be a Debbie Downer for more than 5 minutes.

Although I wish Idris Elba had given the speech from Independence Day instead at the end. Would have been $$$.

If you liked Idris Elba in this by the way, you should view Luther. Another fun unrealistic but stylistic series he is in and he shines in.

Saw it this weekend w/ my 12 year old son. Wasn't execting much out of it other than to entertain the little man, but over all was very surprised w/ how good and just how much fun this movie was to watch/experience. The visuals were awesome, not too fast that you cannot keep up with them, and the sound was great too. Thuds just like you'd expect a monster to make when tromping around.

Also not too long and not too short. Plus they didn't take an hour to build up the premise either, just dove right in and it was a good fun ride from beginning to end.

IMO you should go see it, was worth it!

Was a pretty fun movie, although my brother and I couldn't stop laughing at the "analog electricity" moment. We were hoping the Jaeger was going to be lit by candles with an army of hamsters powering it.

Although I wish Idris Elba had given the speech from Independence Day instead at the end. Would have been $$$.

My brother said the same thing during the movie so I started reciting as much of that speech as I could remember.

Still quite enjoyable despite the cheesy predictable and lolscience moments. It fit the whole cheesy godzilla genre except that the action scenes were cool as shit.

I liked it, but there were a lot of really corny parts that made me lol (in a bad way). Visually it was pretty amazing.

Also Charlie Day. CHARLIE DAY. <3<3<3<3

Saw it a second time, it was even better since I didn't have to pay attention to the plot this time around.
