View Full Version : Instead of Wiping or Changing RED99 Add a FV/SZ Item Loot Ruleset type server.

Instead of Wiping or totally changing Red 99, just add a differnt server, call it Purple for all I care... do a a FV/SZ Item Loot Ruleset type server.
Red 99 is fully invested in, and fun for those who like it, I say let it run its course through Velious, and when Velious Launches add a Classic Era Time/Event locked server with all items trad-able and droppable with the exception of Epics, and certain class or end game quests such as Coldain Ring Spirit wracked Cords, Eyepatch of Plunder, Jboots, Sky Quests ect...
Planar, Thurg, Skyshrine sets are fully lootable... so are Bracers of Benevolence type stuff...
Features to have...
-Progression Server, Both teams have to unlock the content at least 3 times each for the server to progress...
- Item loot like RZ
- Everything pretty much Trad-able like FV...
- Teams Like SZ, except 2 teams, ( saw on Wermarchts post, think its a good idea)
-No boxing, as much as it pains me....
- a large Group Exp Bonus ( like 200% )
- server exp bonus of 75%
- Exp loss on a PVP death... ( only 9% of a full exp death)
- loot tokens from pvp kills that can be traded at your city for faction + potions ( like summon corpse
- can summon corpse to POD 3 or 4 hours after death...
- Player can switch teams in exchange for 10 Levels if under level 50, 7 levels if over level 50... plus a huge amount of plat and a painfull quest...
- Items such as Manastone, Guise, Fungi staff, COS, ect always drop/ quest, just at a reduced rate once its supposed to be nerfed... Also can always bind at Pots, ect...
So new players are never at a disadvantage...
Dark Elf Team:
Dark Elves,
Ogres,
Iksars,
Trolls,
Half Elves ( Bards, Paladins, Druids, Rangers)
Iksars
Erudites
Human Team:
Human,
Halfling
Barbarian
Gnome
Wood Elf
Dwarf
High Elf
Any Thoughts?
And no I dont play either P99 server at this point... but played on just about every VZTZ and Guildwars server...

why does everything think they have a better idea for teams? use the fuckin SZ ruleset. human team vs dark elf team makes no fucking sense. teams should be deity based to fit in with lore.

Because the teams on SZ and TZ were broke as shit, I played both...
What I think would work would be 2 teams that both have access to all the classes...
Put the Half elves in Rathe mountains with guild trainers and spell vendors, and unkos in Neriak, Ogguk and Overthere...
Both teams have the same classes so you can join either team and complete for end game content, both teams hardcoded like on SZ..
Also server wide announcement when CT, Inni, Trak, Naggy, VS spawn would be pretty sweet...
And no nothing I am saying is new, I dont think it has all been done on one server,
With Item loot and FV rules with 2 teams this would really be a PVP centric server... gearing up will be all about PVP and Raiding with your team / guild...
Also Classic Resists for the win, Just make chanter nukes, mez, and cleric nukes land a little easier than classic..

3 factions is the best way to go. an odd number is needed to balance shit out if one ever gets out of control. again deity based teams fits in with eq lore making for a more immersive experience. it also puts all the min/maxing lamos into one team (evils) so i dont have to deal with them :)

Thank You, This suggestion has nothing to do with Red 99...
This would be just another 99 type server that runs along side it...
I say Keep Red 99, wiping peoples pixels is bad business...
Just add a more PVP centric server... Red 99 is just BLUE 99 where you dont wait in line...
What I am suggesting is a server where PVP itself would be a Huge part of improving your character while still having a team to play with, instead of like on RZ where item loot made you an outcast.. and No drop made you Godly... Almost nothing will be no drop... so do 4 lvls + _ for PVP looting but have no level limit in raid zones.. just no looting of items on players 4 or 5 levels lower... so yeah you can farm newbs, just cant loot... also have to do most of the damage plus kill shot to get credit... Bagging allowed.. Just some ideas for an alternate server with a focus on Team vs Team PVP.
Have some PVP Exp loss ( was thinking 9% of normal exp loss if you have items that are loot-able equipped, 25% if you are fully no drop ) to discourage bind rushing, make it much worse on naked or no drop bind rushers..

Yeah I get it... as much as I would to play Red 99 again, the slow exp, no item loot, low pop, makes it seem like a bit of a time waste.. would like to be able to causally play end game and not have to attend every stinking raid to get geared out.. would be fun if there was team based item loot pvp.. yeah raiding will be the first way, but with most things droppable it would be pretty easier for a newer player to join a guild, get hooked up with, trade, or pvp for a good set of gear plus some spares... Kinda like on VZTZ with item loot and planar being droppable... Once I hit 50 I ended up joining Heresy and was in the middle of massive pvp with the TZT Horde right away.. yeah people lost planar items ect.. but it was all cool, it was easy to farm, loot, or trade for another.. nothing game breaking... Once you joined a guild you could get geared up pretty quick and compete with the top end of the server. It was fun, it was PVP..

The Sullon Zek Server (Deity based team PvP)
The Sullon Zek server is a new server with a new rule set. The rules for this server are very different than those on any other EverQuest server. In general the server is based on the concept of a PvP teams server, like Tallon and Vallon Zek, but with the teams chosen based on which god the character worships rather than the race of the character.
Sullon Zek rules:
1. Player v. Player (PvP) combat can occur between any characters that are not on the same team, regardless of level. A level 50 character can attack and kill a level 6 character if that character is not a member of his alliance. But rules 2 and 3 apply.
2. Characters will be immune to PvP combat until they have gained enough strength to survive the struggle. Characters below 6th level are not able to participate in PvP combat, unless they stray from city and newbie zones. As soon as a character 'dings' into 6th level he or she will become PvP enabled.
3. Characters will lose experience when killed in PvP combat if the character that killed them is within 5 levels. The amount of experience lost will be the same amount that is lost if that character is killed by an NPC. Your corpse can be resurrected by a cleric to partially restore lost experience.
4. Characters will only be able to loot coins from other characters, and then only if the victim was within 5 levels of the killer. Only the character getting the killing blow will be able to loot the corpse.
5. Players may only have one character at a time on this server. This means that you will have to delete the existing character in order to create a new one. Because we are introducing a new class and a new race with the release of Shadows of Luclin we plan to make allowances at that time for those that wish to explore these new characters.
6. Characters will not be able to group with anyone that is not on their Deity Team.
7. Characters will not be able to invite someone to join their guild that is not on their Deity Team.
8. Combat skills' effective value is capped at 2 levels above a players current level.
9. Resistance debuff spells have a 50% increased effectiveness against player characters.
10. /consider returns only three kinds of results when used against player characters. 'Green' means that the character is below your range. 'White' or 'black' means that the character is within your range. 'Red' means that they are above your range. 'In range' means +/- 5 levels.
11. /consider will also display a message indicating what team the target is on. Members of your own team will be displayed as an 'ally'.
12. Faction hits for PvP will be taken for killing characters within their racial home towns. Killing a human in any human starting city will cause a faction loss with the locals. Freeport, Qeynos and Surefall Glade are considered starting cities for humans. All of Greater Faydark and Felwithe are considered the starting city for all elves (high elves and wood elves), except dark elves. Paineel and Erudin are both starting cities for erudites, and killing one in either city (regardless of their place of origin) will result in a faction loss with that city. Other cities are not considered home towns, despite being run and controlled by a certain race. For example, HighHold is not a human home town. Thurgadin is not a dwarven home town.
13. Rules such as the Play Nice Policy do not apply to this server. Characters have the ability on this server to deal with their conflicts through combat. Causing experience loss by 'training' NPCs on other characters is not an offense that would warrant a warning this server. HOWEVER: All rules regarding general decency still apply. Cursing, threats and other such things will be dealt with sternly, and are still unacceptable behavior on any PvP server.
14. Beneficial effects can not be used on members of another team.
15. No character will be able to bind in dungeon zones.
16. 'Buff' spells will not affect characters more than 20 levels lower than the spell level. Existing spell restrictions on spells over 50th level will supercede this rule.
17. There will be 'insignia' dropped on the corpses of characters over 20th level that are killed by another character. We plan to allow those to be turned in for a reward of some sort. What that reward will be is undetermined at this time, but we are leaning towards a team reward rather than a personal reward.
18. Naked corpses will disappear when looted by a player character. If you are naked and killed by a player character, your corpse will disappear when it is looted.
The 'Teams':
The Good Alliance consists of: Erollisi Marr, Mithaniel Marr, Rodcet Nife, Quellious, Tunare
The Evil Alliance consists of: Bertoxxulous, Cazic Thule, Innoruuk, Rallos Zek
The Neutral Alliance consists of: Brell Serilis, Bristlebane, Karana, Prexus, Solusek Ro, The Tribunal, Veeshan.
There are no Agnostics on Sullon Zek. With the new influence of the gods, those that had not declared for one deity or another have been killed. Everyone now worships a deity, if not out of respect, love or fear of the god, then out of fear for their lives at the hands of fanatics.
Barbarian Shaman and Warriors can choose to worship Mithaniel Marr. Mithaniel Marr was unwilling to abandon all of the noble barbarians that served the good, and many declared themselves in favor of an alliance with Good.
Monks will be able to worship Veeshan. The Temple in Qeynos has discovered some ancient writings that opened up new avenues.
We will be including a method for the Good and Neutral teams to use Summon Corpse or something similar.

As much as i would like a new server and it sure sounds like fun i don't think "Team project1999" is going to take this on, cause they are just that... Trying to emulate 1999.
Perhaps when Eqclassic releases their source we can make something like this, only trouble is, reliable hosts are not all over the place, and if it's something is god damn great at it's running these servers.

Hah, I just rediscovered a bunch of g-sigs on my characters on live the other day. Fuckers took up a lot of bank space since each deity got it's own.

Actually, if you read the post you may notice I am asking for NO changes to P99 Red, just add another server with 2 balanced teams class wise, faster exp, Fironia Vie style loot with almost everything droppable, and RZ item loot...
So would be a server where PVP is encouraged since it is teams, Loot is easy get ahold of, and there is always a fight to be had...
