Hello,
Just went through a clean Titanium load, went through installing Duxa's All in one.
Trying to run EQEmu and getting the following issues:
EQEmuLauncher - V1.22 http://moestaverne.com
An unofficial EQEmulator Launcher
Loading config...
Checking for updates
Loading serverlist ...
Error while retrieving newest version.
Could not reach eqemulator.com. Trying again in 30 seconds.
Now - Made sure file path is selected in the options, port 5998.
If I take the eqgame.exe patchme -w modification variant, I can run the console, but once I get into the game and select p99 servers, it says "Spell list is outdated" and cannot do anything with characters.
Will provide more information as is required.
Thanks in advance.

Right click on launcher icon in system tray and choose start EverQuest only or some such.
I believe the problem is that the launcher wont work when the moestavern site is down which goes down often apparently.

1) Download the latest spell files: http://www.project1999.org/files/eqchangesv27.zip
(if this post is out of date, just update "27" with the current number)
2) Unzip the eqchanges file into your base Everquest directory, overwriting any files it says.
3) Log on to P99 and play the game.
If you still cannot do step #3 after steps #1 and 2, you need to ensure you have the proper permissions in your base Everquest install directory to overwrite the files with the appropriately updated files.

Success. Theeqchangesv27 solved all problems.
Thanks for your hasty reply and a fix to these problems.
Greatly appreciated!

I extracted 27.zip's contents into my EQ file, but EQemu still won't work for me. I'm getting the same issues as the OP.
You don't need to use the launcher. I'm going to find Falkun's post and take credit for it. Be right back....
I swear sometimes the EQEmuLauncher is more trouble than its worth. And I can't believe all the information regarding setting up P99 without the Launcher has been removed...
Here goes:
1) Default install of EQ: Titanium (other clients will NOT work). Copy/pasting the EQ folder from another install works just fine here. (For consistency, I'm going to assume you installed EQ to C:\Everquest so that the eqgame.exe path is C:\Everquest\eqgame.exe.)
2) Right-click on the eqgame.exe icon within your everquest folder, select Create Shortcut.
3) Right-click on the Shortcut to eqgame.exe you created in step (2). Select Properties.
4) In the Properties menu that appears, edit the target line to say "C:\EverQuest\eqgame.exe" patchme. The quotes are only needed around the destination string if it contains spaces. Select Apply and then OK to close the properties box.
5) Open the C:\Everquest\eqhost.txt file in the text editor of your choice.
6) Delete whatever is in the eqhost.txt file and replace it with the following two lines:
[LoginServer]
Host=login.eqemulator.net:5998
7) Save and close the eqhost.txt file.
8) Download the latest eqchangesvXX.zip file from the patch notes. As of this post, we are on v27, found here (http://www.project1999.org/files/eqchangesv27.zip). (http://www.project1999.org/files/eqchangesv27.zip if this post is out of date, just update "27" with the current number)
9) Extract the eqchangesvXX.zip file into the C:\Everquest directory, overwriting any files it asks for.
10) Within the C:\Everquest directory, delete the following files to allow these updated zones to function properly on P99:
arena.eqg
arena_EnvironmentEmitters.txt
lavastorm.eqg
nektulos.eqg
Nektulos_EnvironmentEmitters.txt
11) Log into the server with the account you created at EQEmulator.org (http://www.eqemulator.org/).
12) Select Project1999: The Ruins of Kunark from the server list.
13) Enjoy playing on P99.

I extracted 27.zip's contents into my EQ file, but EQemu still won't work for me. I'm getting the same issues as the OP.
The OP's issue was that character select told him his spell files were out of date. If you have that issue, you need to download the latest spell files and unzip them into your base EQ folder (the instructions are posted 2x already in this thread). If that does not work, then follow step #3 in my initial instructions and ensure you have permissions to write/edit files in your Everquest directory. If '"outdated spell files" at character select screen' is not your issue, then you do not have the same issue as OP.
