Black Screen trying to login

Hello,

First time setting this up. I installed the Titanium edition install went smooth. I used the EqEmu patcher which also seemed to go smoothly. I see the servers I select the Project 1999 server hit play and it appears to load but all I get is a black screen and my cursor.

I looked through the FAQ tried a few things. Namely running the eqgame.exe properly modified (same result), made sure drivers were update with no conflicts, I went to edit the eqclient.ini file even though I didn't see an error. I also checked the error log for the patcher to ensure there was not an error I wasn't seeing.

The fact that I got the same issue running the game through the patcher and through the eqgame.exe leads me to believe that its a system issue of sorts that I can't pinpoint.

Has anyone else run into this issue? Any advice?

The main protagnist of the black screen is trying to launch the game in full screen. You want windowed mode, stay away from full screen :)

I have the same problem. So my questions is how do you get the game to open in windowed mode since it launches from EQEmuLauncher? Running Win7 64bit. Does the launcher reference another shortcut or the .exe itself? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

So by disconnecting my second monitor which is DVI (main is HDMI) I was able to login and adjust the screen resolution and play with no problems. However as soon as I plugged my secondary back in it went black again. Is there not a way to play this game without having to unplug my secondary monitor everytime? I searched the forums in the other blackscreen threads but didn't find the answer even though someone else posed the same question. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again.

Hey dude, you need to go to your eqclient.ini file (in your installed folder). Then make it so that...

WindowedMode=TRUE

Bob is then indeed, your uncle... :)

While there you're probably want to know how to get the best "size" windowed mode...

WindowedWidth=1440

...for me it's that, check your screen resolution and adjust the width/height accordingly.

in any case, dual monitor guy this should fix your problem. You'll definitely want to play with the resolution a bit though depending on the size of your monitor!

Yeah a HP Pavilion dv7 ... not buying a HP again, or a laptop for that matter. As the world descends into buying iPads and netbooks and various other PDA stuff, I can't help but move in the opposite direction - a desktop with all the trimmings ;)
