This game was godly. Trying to find all 4 lost family members, defeat a bunch of known pirates, keep a crew happy, get married to the best looking governor's daughter, amass a ton of wealth and conquer the map for your chosen flag... so damn hard!

...that and sailing east. Going west took no time at all, going east was like medding from zero on EQ while standing up, took forever.

Somewhere around 2001 i quit Everquest due to Luclin/Pop when sony took over, everything seemed to take a turn for the worse in all aspects. Started playing Diablo 2

For a year or two just played random shit, then rumors of WOW started. Being an avid fan of the "mmorpg" genre" since everquest was so god damn good i was really excited to see blizzard make one of these games.

I leaked Alpha footage of wow in early 2004 and was sued by blizzard, but brought the files down so they didn't press charges any further.

I played wow for about 5 months, at first it was the best shit i've ever played. But quickly it took a turn for the worse, pvp seemed useless, no drama talk (couldn't speak to your enemy) no penalty for pvp death etc made me eventually hate the game.

Played random shit for a year, then Vanguard appeared on the horizon, has hyped about this one as it was the old everquest team behind it (brad mquaid among others).

Once more it turned out to be a piece of shit, and was hackable from day one. Played this one for a couple of months.

Mad about how shitty all new mmorpgs seemed to be i looked for "Classic Everquest" and discovered "Everquest Vallon / Tallon Zek Emulated PVP". Started playing there, played there from 2007 to 2011 and then came here to plague these forums when they shut their stuff down.

Lol dude of course it doesn't compete with those. It was neither God tier game nor a completely shitty one. It was simply a pretty unique fighter game that had terrible controls yet was still pretty fun when I was like 8 or whatever and it came out.

I forgot about that fighting game it was badass it had little red riding hood with Uzis if I remember right. Come to think of it, it also had Morgana Nunu and the red riding hood aka Annie from LoL. Funny.

What I read from that EGM is that they're WoW type gamers and Eternal Champions was made for EQ type gamers.

Darkstalkers is fucking bad ass as hell. Loved that game and I wish they'd do a solid 2D fighter remake.

MK2 at the time I was obsessed with, but it had just insanely glaring balance issues if you ever got into the arcade tournament scene.
