is there any reason why people avoid sol A on this server? it seems to have one of the larger xp mods and i remember back on fippy this zone was always packed... is there something i dont know? or is it just because there are other zones with slightly higher mods and not enough people to populate those zones + sol a? uguk seems pretty overcamped and so does unrest so i think sol A could probably be utilized more.
thoughts?

Runners + goblin shaman begins to cast a spell = your runner feels much better. Snare is a must. Most things see invis. Its just so much more of a hassle than ez-mode Unrest, Mistmoore, and Uguk.
I however really enjoy my back corner of Uguk where I solo on my pally. Fantastic EXP, easy to break now that I know the ropes, and plenty of mobs to keep me occupied. And completely uncontested, always.

Plenty of people are leveling in Solusek A. I don't know what your level is, but look up 'Razlo' - an half-elf bard, for he's often leading groups down there. He might soon outlevel the dungeon though :P
Mistmoore pond is just damn easy. No casters, lots of room for mistakes with runners. Guk top is also a great spot that sees groups, but unlike SolA you won't wizards there. The goblin wizards combined with close proximity groups and SoW'ed goblins mean you need a group that knows what it is doing.
And guess how much faith people have in one another :D
If you need a cleric for SolA, poke me on Tawa.

It's not so much the casters and runners (every dungeon has this); what makes SolA so much less desirable here as compared to live is the awful pathing. There are several places in the zone where if you pull a mob past, they'll start running down random hallways gathering a huge train. To effectively hunt in Sola, you need a puller who knows all the bad pathing areas so they know where to hold mobs' hands so they don't go running off to god knows where.
If the pathing wasn't so bad in Sola I'm sure more people would hunt there. I brought groups here a couple times and tried a few spots as I was leveling up, but people got quickly frustrated by all the trains just caused from pulling a mob or two back to the group.

bad pathing would explain why sol A was popular on progression servers but not here. is that just because of the coding done here? i dont think there were pathing issues on fippy

The few times I've leveled there the trains have made things... Difficult. Group wiped a few times due to dumb people training. Another problem is that unless its cleared, its difficult to get to camps since Many mobs see invis. Its a fun zone though...

Reasons people don't go to Runnyeye: runners, casters, bad pathing, all mobs are higher than level 20 therefore always aggro on you even if they are trivial, lava you can't escape from, and much easier places to hunt during those levels.

I leveled 10 levels there, but you gotta have a solid group and expect to train yourself a lot, the pathing is atrocious. Also, Runnyeye is not nearly as bad as everyone says, you just need to know the best spots to position your group. There's great loot, exp and virtually unlimited mobs there.

Hello Tawa! Yes i'm often in SolA euro evenings. Pathing is terrible in the zone, even if you know what you're doing you're going to train.
What level / class are you TommyG?

I've had the most success in SOLA by not camping a particular spot and just moving in cycles around certain parts of the zone. If you engage the mobs where they spawn for the most part you can avoid the crazy trains which get caused by things being pulled taking the scenic detour through half the dungeon gathering friends instead of following you 3 steps through the most direct door.
I love SOLA. That said it's got a lotta issues. Things see invis, making CR's very hard on low level people, especially compared to other choices at the level range. There is lava you can fall into that is very difficult to get out. Dying deep in the dungeon can be a nightmare for newer players especially. When you've got a high level character who can just drag your corpses if you wipe it kinda makes sola a more legitimate choice for good/fun exp at that level range.

Pretty much lava, imo.

There are at least two very malicious pathing quirks in Sol A that I know about.
The first involves the area directly outside the bar in inferno complex. Right outside the door to bar (room #15), mobs in the room south of your position will agro. However, they are unable to walk down the stairs to get to you (marked with thick red line), so they head west through adjacent rooms (arrow) before looping back and attacking you from the west.

The second quirk is in room 6. The mob which spawns at the location of the red dot, in the southeast corner of the room doesn't like to move from his spot to the rest of the room. Instead, he will run south through the invisible wall, run all the way around, and come back to room #6 from the east (bringing anything he found on the way).

Sol A was one of my favorite zones... think I duo'd there from 26-34. The exp and cash were excellent once we learned to manage the various death traps.

I've had issues also in SolA where pets don't want to go through an illusionary wall, opting instead to run all the way around to get to me via a door. Room 6 I think had this issue when approaching from the south.. My pet would run around the long way to get tome via the East door.
SolA is great XP and a fun zone. I never really went there on live back in 99/2000. On this server I have spent a lot of time there and loved it. You just need to learn the pathing and camps.. I'd usually set up so that I had an exit into SolB close by (and made use of it often). The SolB exits suck at times when there are Kobolds waiting on the other side but it rarely happened..

Hope you realize more dungeons were like this on Live and need some green aggro tuning + see invis

I hate going there at 50+ for those reasons to get down to the cleric epic camp. I've almost died on several occasions trying to get there.

I went through sola on both my characters.
Imo its easily the best exp for the level provided you have an even remotely competent group.
