Friend List not working

I can't seem to add friends to my friend list.

I type /friend xxxxxx and I get a message back saying something to the extent (don't have it right in front of me) "Unable to connect to the Universal Chat Service. Your request was not submitted."

Any ideas on how to get this to work?

Are you by any chance using the SoF client instead of Titanium?
It's the only thing I could come up with...

Yes I am using SoF.

Guess I will have to go by pen/paper unless if someone knows a workaround.
