Hi all,

Finally got my copy of EQ Titanium today (yay!) and having a little trouble getting it to crank with P1999.

First tried the eqemu launcher following the directions first on the guidebook page
http://www.project1999.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2651

and then on the "Help! MyEQ won't work! - The FAQ..." page
http://www.project1999.org/forums/showthread.php?t=94928
(Including trying Duxa's "EQEmu launcher only" option #12.)

After the eqemu launcher method didn't work, after a few different attempts I tried the clean install and followed these steps in this order:

1. Clean EQ Titanium installed in its own directory on C: (not in program files).
2. Edited eqhost.txt file to: Host=login.eqemulator.net:5998
3. Made a desktop shortcut to eqgame.exe (this is the only EQ installed so it can't be pointing to a live version).
4. Added "patchme" (w/o quotes) to the target line, checked "run as administrator" and compatibility mode (tried both Windows 7 compatibility - which is my OS - and Win XP SP2 as noted in the instructions).
5. Click on the shortcut to launch.

I pick the P1999 server and still get to the character select screen with the same message "Your spell file is outdated. Please visit... " and at the bottom of the character box "(ERRORCODE SP-1)". That's the same problem I had before the clean install.

I haven't played EQ in almost 8 years and can't recall with certainty but it LOOKS like it IS patching. The splash screen right before the character select screen plays the theme music and has the blue progress bar at the bottom with funny messages (like washing your armor) and iirc it's what we got anytime the game files were updated. It only patches for about 8 seconds though, not as long as I would expect.

Any hints? Thanks very much.

The "getting started guide" says use the EQEmuLauncher, but you can still do it the old-fashioned way, which I personally prefer. Find the latest patch notes, download the "eqchangesvXX.zip" and unzip the directory into your base Everquest folder, overwriting any applicable files. We are currently on v27, see the post here:

Thanks so much - that did the trick. Looking forward to getting back into the game. :-)
