That's really the only question that really matters. Server pop isn't great so why not?
There are lots of reasons to increase exp bonus but what are some solid reasons not to increase it?
Innocent until proven guilty. Prove why xp shouldn't be increased.
Will it lower the population more? No.
Will it hurt some player base on the server? No.
Will we ruin the keep it classic idea that the server holds so dearly? No.
Will groups of people leave the server in protest? No.
Will people level up way to fast and crowd the server? No.
Will it create less pvp? No.
Will it grief people off the server? No.
Will it cause everyone to get to level 60 on a server where no character is ever created again? No.
Arguments I have heard that don't hold up:
Because I like the xp difficult. (Check out blue server your in the wrong place)
Because its classic. ( That didnt stop us from increasing it before)
Because then no pvp will happen below level 50. (Its an incentive, not much pvp now)
Because there was a bonus and it didn't work. (Now is different, ppls lives change)
Because it will cause too many higher levels. ( Afraid of competition? Is that bad?)
Because it will cause not enough low level players. (More people will try alts)
Because its not fair I had to level up with no bonus. (Your bonus was binding at pots)
Because the devs want the server to fail. (Not true because they dont have to run it)
Because of some nihilum or gm conspericy. ( maybe they shot kenedy too)
Because it makes the game too easy. (XP = time spent not difficulty welfare recipient)
Because it takes the fun out of it.(Eq has many fun aspects-most agree xp is not one)
Because thats not what I want.( Reasons? )
Because this and this other system is better. ( But thats besides the point )
Because you could just remove xp death penalty. ( Again besides the point )
