Ogres can not be stunned in PvP melee. Period. Not from the front, not from behind, not even from behind with slam/bash. Most NPCs bashing can only stun them from behind. Exceptions are giant class MOBs, which includes giants of course, and cyclops, as well as sarnaks and Drolvargs in Kunark, and wurms/wyverns/dragons. Giant class mobs even get a chance to interrupt with normal hits, not just bashes. Other mobs can *ONLY* stun Ogres from behind with bash. PCs can not stun them except with spells.

I do certainly recall giants and dragons being stun masters in melee. Meaning they stun you hard core... you don't stun them.

However, the addition of sarnaks and drolvargs is quite interesting and not something I'd remember!

I haven't seen any of these mobs stun on their regular melee attacks, but they should have a chance to do so.

Maybe others want to contribute as I keep hunting.

I remember running past the 2 drolvargs in front of KC and getting stunned quite a darn bit.

Pretty sure this is inaccurate whoever posted that. I remember Furor raging how the ogre warriors in guild could tank the velious shit and hold aggro because of frontal stun immunity but he couldn't.

I'm not saying ogres shouldn't have this problem with dragons+giants...

I'm just saying that the regular attacks on dragons and giants should have a chance to stun here and having been attacked by fire giants... I can confirm they don't.

i'd like to point out that on most of these logs you posted where the guy gets stunned, it is either from a bash or a KICK (warrior style stun). The only one without a bash or kick is the one where a temple guard hits the guy at the same time vindi is whipping his ass.

dude, reality check. according to the logs, the guy is stunned from soemthing (like an AE stun) but not from any hits... look, he is being stunned in intervals without being hit, then one time while was being hit, this is not proof that they are stunning him with melee but rather a spell out of combat range:

I can tell you that more than just bash stuns, at least the kick on 55+ war mobs if not already implemented.. there's also the copy/paste from Nilbog regarding giant sized npcs inflicting stuns. I believe red cons may also have a chance to stun on players from less than concrete comments/logs here and there.

nilbogs past doesnt say they inflict stuns, itchy bottom only mentioned they had a chance to interupt...which could simply be physical push which is an issue as npc's dont seem to push on this server as they did on live.

Mobs definitely push. I spend nearly my entire P99 life getting hit (being as I play tanks). I have to take a few steps forward every little while in melee. It's actually more evident at lower levels because at high levels you're usually either fighting slowed mobs which obviously push a lot less, or killing stuff so quickly that you don't have time to be pushed very far. This includes raid encounters which are often killed in mere seconds.

Mmm true, these images do not depict positioning and that is quite a valid point. The player in the PoHate parse is not meleeing any of the mobs either, so the positional stun holds.

Maybe I'm thinking of WoW or something, but I thought I remembered getting stunned a lot while trying to flee from an NPC.

WoW NPCs dazed, yeah.

For sure I think 55+ WARRIOR npcs that kick (not monk flying kick or ranger npcs!) should stun. That may already be the same, I'm not exactly tanking them here with my wizard. This much to me is absolute from the logs.

However, I don't think the person in the PoHate log had their back to both mobs on them, nor do I think that whoever got killed by the Vindi/temple guardian had their back to them.

I believe these mobs stunned (frontal too) because they were red con, and additionally that giants/dragons should too from the Nilbog quote posted. The guy posting that didn't go back in time to make that post and doesn't appear to be someone who is clueless.



Most NPCs bashing can only stun them from behind.

Furor's post complaining about dropping threat on his human vs being an ogre against Velious raid npcs (notice he wasn't complaining about this as much in classic...? Btw their plane of sky clears, not exactly trivial before the oh Velious raids were harder issue comes up) isn't just a result of a bash here and there stunning him.

why are you arbitrarily making shit up? there are no patch notes ever that say anything was changed to prevent red con mobs from stunning with hits. THis would be a big deal and wouldnt go unnoticed. No one but you can "remember" being stunned from hits purely because a mob conned red. Many players fought red con mobs for exp in groups leveling up from the beginnng of EQ. No one has ever mentioned that fightig red con mobs are harder because they potentially stun from hits. It is no where. Where are you dreaming this shit up?

Are you basing this off of just a few random logs?

Don't we have tons of logs from 2000?

I had logs where someone got pierced twice by a red con orc legionaire and it says "you are stunned".

It's a total faint memory but I think I'd been stunned when being chased down by red con NPCs before. I'm not thinking of being dazed in WoW... but... they did borrow a lot from EQ.

I don't really remember being stunned just because of a level/race difference.. But like I said, I feel like there are a bunch of logs out there from the era. If this was the case, we'd see a lot of random stuns in a bunch of logs.
