Mammoth Calf Hide Quest

The quest in Halas for Mammoth Calf Hide only seems to reward the Black Wolf Mail. I have done the quest 8 times now, but only received the chest piece. I guess it could be a remarkable coincidence, but haven't seen or heard any sign that it's working.

Can confirm he only gives mail, wich isn't so bad moneywise, since it sells a good amount of pp
But bad if you just want the quest rewards.

And mammoth calf hides isn't that easy to get by as a low lvl rogue that its worth the trouble for the pp.
